Did you know that Microsoft doesn't even require you to login to get this 3.4GB download going now, ready for your weekend tinkering projects?

They've also sped things up apparently, using Akamai Content Delivery Network, automatically.

Just curious, anybody finding this tool practical to use?

For me, I tried running it on a 85% full 1TB SSD and 85% full 1TB spinny drive equipped laptop, and it took nearly 2 days to complete, while making foreground tasks pretty slow.  Here's the log times/results:

ive used the offline version. never took more than a few hours. the only sillyness was having to actually burn a dvd to run it. for some reason, it didnt work from usb. could be because i was trying to make the usb disk from inside fusion.

It's finally here, available for free to everybody. I've already moved 3TB around with the GA code level, and all tests are going well.

If you have a NAS or Windows server (or even Linux) server, I'd think you'd be interested in a free way to do fast, full backups of Windows, along with bare metal restores.

Curious what others think?
