Serial: Here's What I Hope Is Next For The Format

I want more serialized podcasts, and not just ones about true-crime. Give me multiple insiders' views of a presidential campaign; a retelling of the major events in World War II; an exhaustive explanation of the Affordable Care Act.

Serial busted open its namesake format, and I hope others run with it.
I just listened to the last episode of Serial, and… OK. I was entertained by it, though admittedly I zoned out during portions of certain episodes. All in all, it was a good show.  My lack of enthusiasm at the end is probably shared by a lot of people: It didn’t solve anything or arrive at any conclusions. It didn’t do anything. (Well, almost.) At the end, it’s just: OK, we looked really closely at this one case.  As frustrating ...

Are you satisfied with Google+?

I don't have Android, and I haven't gotten this survey. I'm curious why it's out there, though. Google's obviously contemplating changes.

+Paul Balcerak, you nailed it on the "audience" perspective, that's exactly the main difference for me too, I feel Facebook is extremely playful, carteles, immature, G+ is auto curated and posts are much more relevant to my expectations.

Just for me, for later. Disregard (or don't) :)
'Round and 'round we go — Circles are the key to it all We've already covered covered what Google+ is, but once you decide to take the plunge, sorting out your connections on the site can seem a bit daunting with the number of choices you have. It's not a one-and-done process like it is with twitter. Now, don't get me wrong, it's incredibly simple and quick. It's easier to build and...

What Social Media Has In Common With A 5-Year-Old Kid

Little kids have no filter. They'll tell the truth regardless of how embarrassing/inappropriate/uncouth/ it is—which is exactly how social media users will react to your brand.
I was in a grocery store a few months back, standing in line in front of, respectively, a woman and her 5-ish-year-old kid, and a white-haired guy in his 60s/70s. Without prompting, the kid looked at the old man, and then at his mom, and said, "Mommy, that man's really old." The guy seemed to…

New Post: The 1 Reason I’m Not Reading Your 82 Blogging Tips

It's too fucking many!!!
I get the need for evergreen content, but here's why I don't read posts like "82 blogging tips" or "100 of the Best Twitter accounts": It's too fucking many. If you have 82 blogging tips, you have enough content to produce a nice-looking whitepaper, perhaps in PDF format. I don't want to spend time trying…

I saw somebody flogging their "82 item checklist for getting ready for a hangout on air" and it just made me decide (without reading any of them) that I wouldn't do any more HOAs.

Google+ Is Dead, Unless It Works For You

It’s a little suspect for TechCrunch to declare Google+ “Walking Dead.” Maybe they did it for clicks, maybe they just got a little overzealous—who knows? And who cares! If you’re a Google+ user, this is all that matters: Google+ is as dead as your audience there.

What Every Marketing Department Needs to Know About Google+

In short: It isn't going anywhere, and it's only going to become more intertwined with Google Search.
