"Moonlight over the City" San Francisco, California

A small portion of a gigapixel panorama that I will be releasing in a month or so.
(Expand post for details, I uploaded a 4,000 pixel-wide version, but can only download a 2,048 pixel wide version. Can you see the 4,000 pixel version? Not sure why. Any ideas?)

Details

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 400L F5.6
10-18-second exposures @F6.7
This represents 6 frames out of 70+ total frames in the panorama
This image is 4,000 pixels wide and has been reduced by 50%
No grad filters or any filters of any kind
ISO 160
No polarizer
RAW file processed with Capture One by Phase One
TIFF file processed with Photoshop
Stitched with Autopano, though some need manual stitching, but AP works well.
Bucket with round plywood on top rotated to capture each row.
I'll explain the process when I release the entire thing.

The Story

The moon was out so I decided to do another gigapixel size panorama of the city at dusk. This is a small portion of the entire view and is just a proof to make sure that things are working correctly. I'll explain the process later.

Other stuff

My pictures are featured on the front page of California Governor, Jerry Brown's website http://gov.ca.gov

Resources

I wrote a 325 eBook that describes exactly how I went about learning photography starting in 2006. I did not learn the usual way. I have studied the great masters of painting and hope to find that light in the real world.

A great weather mashup map of the world with local temperatures, weather and nice popups. See where it is hot and not! (Must wait for slow commercials first, but worth it!)

Google Earth

Simply the best way to scout out locations that there is. You can see sun angles and pre-visualize light under lots of different conditions. Sometimes you can actually pre-compose your shots! This has saved me many thousands of vertical feet of climbing by avoiding spots with blocked views etc.

Satellite imagery (choose 'National' for a local US region or use your fave website)

Tide charting and preditions: (chose your area in US, other countries have similar websites)

Wave Heights (I choose 'North Pacific from Global')

Photos of every inch of the California coastline from a small plane. Excellent for close in detailed views.

to me, this has all the looks of a future classic shot!

Great processing Patrick! You have managed to merge all the frames perfectly. Exposure is perfectly controlled across the frames and no boundaries are visible. Great work!
I will wait to see the version with the extra 64 frames!!!
