If you're going to do a survey, at least make it multimedia.

"The survey is based on telephone interviews conducted March 21-April 8, 2013, with a national sample of 1,983 adults. The margin of error for the results is plus or minus 3 percentage points."

Can we, once and for all, get rid of telephone-interview-only surveys? I submit that this survey is complete bullshit, because its bias towards people who are willing to have a telephone survey. My home has never had a landline, nor do any of my friends' houses, so does that demographic not matter in the sample, or what?

Why Meteor Will Kill Rails

I do like Meteor, although I'd like to wait until it gets a little more mature before going headfirst into it.

Do it now!  Don't wait :)

Of course, I am biased and was ready for a change after 9 years of rails.

Today marks the end of "Googley" Google (assuming it wasn't already over already).

Pictured is my search results for "Southwest Airlines", which has a full width banner ad. Banner ads, and image-based ads in general, are something that Google has been vehemently against from the beginning. From Steven Levy's "In the Plex":

"At the time the dominant forms of advertising on the web were intrusive, annoying, and sometimes insulting. The most common was the banner ad, a distracting color rectangle that would often flash like a burlesque marquee. Other ads hijacked your screen. Google wanted none of that. Brin and Page understood that because of the very nature of search -- people are looking for things -- Google could provide advertisers a terrific environment. The information in ads could even be as valuable to users as the results Google provided from search queries, they believed."

1024

Google's stock right now is at $1,024. There's something cool about it being 2^10.

Introduction
I work for MobileMedTek, making cool stuff.  These days, I'm currently using .NET, Rails, and AWS for applications with distributed clients, but I'm willing to learn about any technology within reason.

I am recent married, and enjoy running, learning more German, watching sports, and brewing beer.
