The Note7 is just one tactic, a good one, in Samsung's enterprise strategy.
Samsung's DJ Koh proudly announces the new Note7 in a NYC event (Photo credit: Patrick Moorhead) I attended the Samsung Galaxy Note7 launch in New York City a few weeks back and already wrote some of my thoughts about the Note7 from a consumer perspective, but there remains a lot more [...]

Surprised how performant the HP EliteBook Folio G1 "feels". It uses an Intel Core m7, doing triple monitor and 20 open apps and watching a 1080P video on one of them. Not supposed to do that. :-)

I think many aren't appreciative of the Core m chips. Have the m7 and 16 GB of memory in my HP Chromebook 13 and it flies, even with a few dozen tabs open. Driving the 3200 x 1800 display as well....

The Spectre 13 "piston-hinge" enables this laptop's insane thin profile (Photo credit: HP Inc.) In any very competitive market, it is extremely important to have a premium line so that you can have a successful “better” in a “good”- “better”-“best” product lineup. HP Inc. has amped up their premium notebook game [...]

Ever since Microsoft launched Windows 10, they have primarily been focused on getting people to upgrade The upgrade program allowed users to upgrade their systems to Windows 10 for free for a year. In that year, Microsoft managed to get the Windows platform from zero Windows 10 users to 350 million monthly active users in a single year.

I don't normally jump on the quick news of the day as I'm an industry analyst and not a journalist, but I came across a tidbit on Advanced Micro Devices that I thought was important to my audience. News about where a chip company manufactures their silicon is important as [...]

Used Samsung Galaxy Note7 for nearly three weeks, can say it's one hell of a good phone. Scary good. More later.

What AMD showed on Zen last night was very compelling on performance. AMD said that power would be competitive, the frequency we saw would be even higher at production than what we saw, and production of what we saw could be produced at scale.

All of this sounds incredibly positive. There's a lot of execution between now and launch, but at a minimum, I believe AMD will be in a much better position than they have been in years in processors.

Brian Krzanich, CEO of Intel (Photo credit: CHRISTOF STACHE/AFP/Getty Images) There are always debates on who does what best in the semiconductor industry, but most agree that Intel is the best in process and transistor technology. This leadership has served the company extremely well over the last few decades and allowed [...]

I’ve been keeping close tabs on Hewlett Packard Enterprise lately—back in June I attended HPE Discover in Las Vegas, and published my takeaways for Day One and Day Two. Today’s blog however, is a follow up to my December blog, on HPE’s Strategic Alliances, which I wrote after meeting with [...]

After two years with two iRobot Roombas, I could only recommend it with many caveats. Like having carpet, furniture, pets to start. I'm wondering if Dyson brings anything new to the table. They've been gestating their robot vac for years.

I've had the same thought, We have a 500, 700, and 800 series roomba. It works great in certain conditions but I have seen other companies leap further. However we've also owned a dyson handheld and it lasted six months before the motor died, the battery shortly followed I assume from the strain of the dying motor. Dyson replaced the motor but refused to replace the battery. Hope their robot vac will have better batteries / warranty.

Positive sign. Normally companies make that last Q before acquisitions ugly to make the clean start and new owner look smart.
EMC Corp. said Dell Inc.’s roughly $60 billion deal for the data-storage company remains on track as the company reported that its second-quarter earnings rose 19%.

Very nice staff and comfortable rooms. Top floor had amenities like a fridge with snacks and cookies at night. During my stay there were many communication issues. I asked twice for my room to be picked up, they said they'd be right up and nothing. Same for room service. Staff was very apologetic but for one of the best hotels in Auburn, this doesn't fly.

I came in at lunch time and about 3/4 of the tables were filled. Food was good, the service was friendly, but the sushi was very slow. It took 30 minutes to get the sushi out. The server apologized, but if sushi is your business, slow sushi at lunch time is a sub-optimal value proposition.
