Today, we are releasing the Developer Preview 4 of Android Things, which now includes the ability to use the Google Assistant SDK on all supported hardware. You can now easily embed the Google Assistant and Actions on Google into your hardware projects. New support for I2S Audio now allows you to connect up external audio devices. We have also open sourced a production sample that showcases hardware and software designed to work together, based on the System on Module architecture of Android Things. See the blog post for more information:

100% agreed!
At least once a month I find myself thinking of how grateful I am for the tooling for Android developers. Definitely, +JetBrains has a lot to do with that, and they should feel great.

That said, I don't feel like I talk openly enough about how grateful I am for the work of the awesome Android Tools team. Folks like +Xavier Ducrohet +Tor Norbye +Alex Ruiz other folks I've met and many others I don't know about – they're making my life a ton better.

Things aren't perfect by any means, but when I look at the contrast between the Android and the iOS developer tools, the contrast is stark.

There's no reason I have to have it as good as I do, and I'm grateful for all of the hard work that goes into making that happen.

WalkerBot is self-powered now. Need to get it finish getting it to take its first step on the updated chassis next before 100% untethered.

Going to need stronger servos very soon. This thing is getting heavy.

Still need to wire up the second foot, add calibration and noise filter to the force sensor readings, and map the readings into an actual angle/bias. Unrelated, I'm quickly becoming a fan of ConstraintLayout (new) and data binding (revisiting again). #androidthings
