Friends, I had a worst hated experience staying at this Patricia Budget Inn motel in Vancouver. I have booked for 2 nights. After moving to this motel, it smells nasty. I felt like drug consuming and prostitution place. Though I convinced myself to stay, few minutes later I realized that I cannot stay at this place and told the management upfront. But the management did not refund me the whole money I paid. I still cannot understand how management cannot refund though I pointed out the valid reasons why I cannot stay. Note: Don't get disguised by looking at Patricia Budget Inn motel website photos and videos. It's quite opposite at this place.

Pros: The hotel is in an old historical building with some nice old furniture, a piano in the lobby and the charming squeaky hardwood floors in the hallways. There is a mini-library on the main floor which I found quite charming as well. The two gentlemen at reception that I had to deal with were both very friendly, helpful, charismatic personalities - I would give this hotel 5 stars for their reception staff. The restaurant downstairs had excellent choice of vegetarian food. There is a good quality Vietnamese restaurant right across the street from the hotel where I was served a huge bowl of delicious tofu noodle soup. Cons: I was staying in a one queen bed room and my room was way too small, and so was the shower which was inside the room. The sink was inside the room by the entrance door. I could hear other guests talking upstairs. The neighborhood is the famous spot for homeless people and drug addicts.

I stayed here with my Husband in June-July 2014 for 3 days. The hotel is old and is located in a pretty bad location; but, the room was nice and clean. I requested for extra towels and pillows and they promptly fulfilled my wish. :) You need a room card to enter the main door after 10pm. Free WIFI was available, and the staff was helpful and welcoming. There is a pub in the hotel which offers live music every night, as well as good food. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay near the centre of the city and close to public transportation, Budget Inn Patricia Hotel is a good choice.

A decent place for the money and a great option for someone transient looking at rental options in Vancouver! First you need to accept that you cannot expect a lot for $40 per night. Things are broken, old, beat up and even dirty. Knowing it was the cheapest option available I expected the imperfections. Don't come here expecting to compare this to any other brand name hotel. This is not what you are paying for here. The only real surprise for me being new to Vancouver and budget hotels was that I just did not expect to find a couple bed bugs waking me in the night. That said, I soon learned that it was not exclusive to this hotel and that even the more expensive hotels in Vancouver have problems. It is a Vancouver thing that you just need to be prepared for. The good news is that I was quickly switched to another room. My clothing and luggage was all cleaned at their cost and the room was immediately treated and fumigated. About the place itself. The staff are great, very friendly and accommodating. The pub has great food, a micro brewery and great music. The guests are from all walks of life and all over the world. I have met many great people and some are now friends I will surely keep in touch with. Congrats to Lindsay the manager for running a great budget hotel, I am sure it must be very challenging. I could see this being a 5 star location with just a small bit of attention to the smaller things. Does not have to be perfect but some minor repairs could go a long way to improving the perception of the place.

No stars (zero- I have to choose one in order to publish may opinion) . We were NOT able to park our car, the parking lot was full of druggy people walking around, my family were so scare that we decide not to stay. We call for cancellation and apparently they accepted very friendly, however, the charge was made to our credit card, even though I dispute to our credit card carrier. To get an idea, just Google Drugs and homeless in Vancouver, check for images. This hotel is in the middle of this neighborhood.

Great hotel! Its in a bit of sketchy area and is a bit of an old fashioned hotel, but the manager at the Front desk is very knowledgeable and can provide tons of fun things to do. It also has free WiFi and has an attached restaurant to the hotel. You also get a discount if you are staying in the hotel. I had an overall good time there. The rooms are tiny though, so be prepared to be in small space

Just Bullshit! The receptionist in this hotel just ignored everything. This hotel is NOT ready to get international customers. He humiliated me whenever I murmured when I spoke in English. It is just Bullshit!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Unless you're a crack addict or prostitute then this is the place to be. On arrival we found the streets full of homeless, drug users, prostitutes and the like. The sidewalk outside the hotel door had used needles all around. Due to our having prepaid the accommodation, we tried to just stick it out. Inside smelt like cannabis and cigarette smoke constantly. The smoke was so bad it was hard to breathe. After moving rooms twice in two nights, we couldn't take the risk anymore and had to leave. This accommodation is DANGEROUS, disgusting and not as described at all. All our belongings stunk and required laundering, not to mention the used cannabis butt we found attached to clothing we had placed into the drawers in the room. This street is the worst street in Vancouver and gave us a very bad first impression of Vancouver. We were told by locals that we as tourists were like 'blood in the water to sharks' on that street. I am just so grateful my young son was not staying with us during this awful experience.
