Oh GREAT idea: grandchildren can make these for their mothers. We will need an activity for Sept. (October is easy with Halloween!)

http://www.marthastewart.com/1125789/how-make-perfect-terrarium-keep-alive
Even if you don't have much of a green thumb, terrariums act as small, self-sustaining ecosystems all on their own. But maintaining one is as much a work of art as it is an experiment in science. To help, senior garden editor Todd Carr shares five of his secret techniques for growing a garden under glass.

A tricky subject, handled well by +Sue Adams . Makes research much more difficult. Much harder to cite the source of a document, meaning it's original collection . Viewing a record in context with other records in the same group is an essential part of analysis.

Sue writes "Identifying items in databases is the hardest of all. The main online genealogy data vendors categorise data into collections, such as Ancestry’s ‘Surrey, England, Baptisms, 1813-1912’ and ‘London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906’ collections that contain the Abinger parish registers and bishop’s transcripts respectively. The distinction between collections is blurred by search facilities that permit broad searches on multiple collections. Each collection is a compilation of data from diverse sources, so the collection is not a good candidate for treatment as an item."
Copies of genealogical sources undergo transformations. Each transformation may split, re-arrange and compile the data contained within source items.

Excellent post, making it even more difficult is that the vendors actually provide "source citation data" for these collections.   This leaves the responsibility for accurate sourcing of the original items up to the individual while others propagate the problem by simply using the collection citation data as their source.

This may be the new logo, but the web browser tab's mini-logo is still the same. Yikes! Let's work on branding uniformity, Google+.

We're getting a little logo love today too. Hope you like it! g.co/evolve
