This is why we must not rely solely on an "online" version of our compiled family history. Use a PC/Mac genealogy computer program, and place copies in the cloud, and as judiciously as possible on genealogy websites. :)
Around the year 2007, just after Thanksgiving, my grandmother noticed a tiny seed near the faucet of her kitchen sink that had somehow, implausibly, sprouted. Intrigued, she and my grandfather planted the seed in a foam cup of potting soil. It grew the telltale fuzzy leaves of a baby tomato...

The genealogical community (and it really used to feel like a big, sprawling, diverse community!) has made a Faustian bargain of sorts with Big Genealogy Inc. In return for fantastic access to amazing collections of records we have to learn to fall in line and do as we are told, to put up with what is shoved down our throats, and never ask too many questions.

WHAT PART MUST WE PLAY IN OUR GENEALOGY EDUCATION?
http://worldwidegenealogy.blogspot.com/2015/04/what-part-must-we-play-in-our-genealogy.html

It may take sacrifice
Ancestral metaphor:  "My paternal grandmother, the real Myrtle in our family, decided she wanted to be a nurse, and as such she matriculated at St. Marks Hospital Nursing School in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her family wasn't wealthy, since her father was often led away for years at a time by interests in such things as a traveling circus. Myrtle's mother had many mouths to feed. Despite the problems, the sacrifice was made and tuition paid. Grandmother studied hard, passed her tests and practicums and served as a nurse through much of her adult life."

Cousin +Russ Worthington and I cannot wait to share cool beans Google tools we've discovered that inspire growth in our Google+ Community and garner high 90% engagement during our live Hangouts on Air. I can't believe the stats myself!

COMMUNITY CENTERED HOAs? So you've got board meetings, training sessions, sales team pep talk meetings, software support, a big time family reunion, a high school reunion, a quilters club, a cooking club, a scrapbooking business, a stamp collecting group, a model train club in _real life?=

Create a Google+ Community to add powerful virtual meeting capabilities. Build engagement between regular in-person club meetings. Provide access to those who cannot attend in person but adding the Hangout on Air option._ (Remember Boston's 6 foot snow drifts?)_

CCHOAs are easy and fun! 😊

Do you use Hangouts on Air as part of your Community Strategy?
Why would you want to use Community Centered HOAs?

Is your Google+ Public Community growing like you'd want it to be, or as engaged as you'd like? If not, utilizing Community Centered HOAs (CCHOAs) can make a big difference towards those goals.

When you utilize Community Centered Hangouts on Air you can:
► Increase the Size of your community
► Add value to your Brand
► Improve your community's Engagement
► Increase the Value of your community
► Help Focus the community
► Fully realize the Relationship Opportunities communities offer

Hangouts on Air (HOA) can add great value to the relationships we are fostering within Google Plus Communities. That value can be helpful to existing and new members of the community.

Live Discussion on Why CCHOAs are so Powerful
We'll be having a live video broadcast (HOA) discussing the use of CCHOAs within a community and why they seem to add so much momentum to a community on Tuesday April 28, 2015 @ 4pm EDT. Here's the link to sign up to view the free broadcast (either live or the recorded version) http://goo.gl/I8V3UA

Hope you can make it live and will add questions/comments for us to feature as part of the broadcast, but if you must miss the live event, you can always watch the free video replay on that same HOA Event page: http://goo.gl/I8V3UA

Add the Community Centered HOA concept to your Community!
Turn your Google+ Community into the thriving place it was meant to be by employing the techniques and concepts we'll be highlighting in this Scheduled HOA Event: http://goo.gl/I8V3UA RSVP there.

Some genealogy Community members and admins are unaware of trolling techniques designed to up the "KLOUT" of the person making a silly query.  "In most cases, though, trolling is easy to distinguish from true, thought provoking debate."

A trolling post doesn't have to include obscenities.
