First time at McKaig, Dominic and Harry had a very fun time at the "beach". Mom said "this is such a beautiful place" and said her family will become members today! See map reference White 21 http://goo.gl/Vuq2UR

From as far away as CHINA, 16 members of Roberts School class of 1966 reunited at Old Roberts Schoolhouse for some fun reminiscing.

Joined by their 6th grade teacher, Mr. Prinzivalli, the group viewed pictures of the area from 50 years ago and even sang their 1966 graduation song.

Looking forward to seeing you at your next reunion!

42 High School Students in the woods for a day, what could possibly go wrong?

Upper Merion High School biology students visited on Friday for a day of education and fun.

In the morning, students assembled at Old Roberts Schoolhouse for a short class on rain water runoff and erosion. Further instructions was given on ways to control storm surges and other conservation efforts.

The students then grabbed some tools and headed out into the woods to the base of Monkey Rock (map reference white 26). Dividing up into several teams, they completed several erosion control projects along with revitalizing parts of the Cadet trail.

So, what went wrong wrong? Nothing, it was a great day to see students learning outside of the classroom while helping the community. A huge thanks from all of us at McKaig Nature Education Center.

Visit the enchanted trails of McKaig Nature Center this weekend and see what the students accomplished.

Join us for this free event, come visit the trails of McKaig Nature Center. Most first timers all say just about the same thing "I've lived here for .... and can't believe I've never visited. This place is huge and a such world apart from the bustle of the suburbs"

Members will be on hand to help you get started and hand out trail maps.
For those who are well acquainted with the Nature Center, see the improvements made and rekindle the joy of walking in the woods.

We expect the laurels to be in full bloom.

Please check out this neighborhood wonder on June 4th, National Trails Day.

Anyone have any stories about Roberts School 3.0 (1957-1999)?

Help with removing some invasive plants (read: weeds) while visiting the tranquil trails of McKaig Nature Center.

Garlic Mustard plants are scattered throughout the woods, mainly in the more sunny areas. They are easily pulled by the stem. They have tiny white flowers at the top and the seeds are in the "horns" right below.

Please deposit them in the trash cans located at the entrances since the seeds can lay dormant for several years.

Note: by mindful of poison ivy since they often live close to each other.
