I was just impressed by analyzing the oDesk numbers: Apparently, users, once they start working through oDesk, spend 40% of their working time there, or an average of 16, out of 40, working hours a week. (For comparison: Facebook usage is at 13 hours a month.) Apparently labor is the very sticky killer app.
A relatively common definition is number of users that come back at least once a week, divided by the number of users registered in that time period. At least Duolingo, Foldit, and a few other project...
