Hi Nasha - I've worked alongside professional resume writers for a number of years and they will do a great job of making your resume appear in search results (by helping you find and incorporate relevant keywords) and by making your resume stand out (through quantifiable accomplishment statements). If you read the report, it had a section on professionally written resumes (before and after results) - the first study I've personally seen that objectively assessed and found in favor of professionally written resumes. TheLadders does have a resume writing service so the findings are self-serving, but hopefully valid nonetheless less. So, in addition to keywords and strong accomplishments, a good resume writer can help with structure, layout and generally making your resume stand out and get found. Since there is no consensus on what constitutes a good resume, you'll never find agreement on the finished resume among those reviewing them, but the goal is to get better results than you could achieve on your own. Today, you will want to find someone who can not only help with your resume, but also your LinkedIn profile. Hope this helps? Let me know ..... And good luck! Pam

Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google are transformational firms, obsessions of the business world and deservedly so.

From current BusinessWeek - jobs evolution and obsolescence - makes you think about the increased speed with which jobs appear and disappear (driven by technology for the most part).
Like cigarette girls, ice men, and now Wal-Mart greeters, lots of jobs fade. But what do we lose in the process?
