I came from Europe to stay there with my American boyfriend for 4 nights in order to have some private time. At check-in they upgraded us to a room with more privacy which I found very nice. After the first freezing night I was also able to get an additional blanket which is a good service, too. We were also thrilled about the Jacuzzi in the room. What I didn't like at all was the fact that house keeping would even knock at your door if you haven't left the room by 11 am or even 10 am. There wasn't even an 'Don't disturb' sign for the door that we could use. This was not good service, but annoying... Resume: nice hotel, great to have discount at the Peruvian restaurant next door, great stay - but if I come back, I will make sure to get that 'Don't disturb' sign ;-)

We where quite disappointed with this hotel. We saw the G+ rating of 4.1 so we thought it would be nice. However, when we arrived, there was a huge (at least 3x2 feet) stain on the old carpet right outside of our door. The inside was not inhabitable, but no where near 4 stars. Once, when our bedding was changed, the fresh white sheets had 2 or 3 different stains on them. The towels were very thin and beginning to fray and tear. Also, the staff member who checked us in was not at all kind. The location of this hotel is very nice, but do not be tricked. Note: It is actually a 12 mile drive from San Francisco International Airport.

Hi Madelyne, Let me start by saying how truly sorry we are that you did not have the best experience while staying with us. We have read your comments and rest assured that we are looking in to this matter in the hopes of improving our facilities and services further. We are continuously improving the hotel in terms of the rooms, the facilities, security, and customer service and of course the value we can give each of our guests. We hope that if you do decide to visit Pacifica Beach again, we can invite you to see the many changes and improvements that we have been making. All the best, Pacifica Beach Hotel

“Horrible Room, Ruined Present, Horrible Customer Service” I booked a supposed ocean view room through Orbitz. It was on the Memorial Day weekend May 26, 2013. It was supposed to be a romantic b-day gift. To my horror, when we got to the room it was a handicap accessible bathroom only. There was no ledge, no shower curtain, no wall shower head. So when we showered, the whole bathroom got wet, the toilet, the floor, the walls all got wet. I had to borrow a mop and extra towels just to dry down the toilet and get the floor to where we could put our shoes on without soaking them just to use the toilet. On top of that the ocean view consisted of our hotel sliding glass door facing the hotel restaurant huge picture windows. We had no privacey and couldn't even sit on the porch without having people who were eating at the restaurant stare at us. I tried getting a refund through Orbitz and they said unless the Hotel refunds them first they cannot help me. The Hotel has refused to refund or provide a comp stay in a better room. They tried saying they called Orbitz and got an okay for the handicap room from me, that NEVER happened. If I would've been informed either from Orbitz or the Hotel BEFORE we arrived I would have never stayed there. The Hotel is saying I should have cancelled when we arrived and they would have refunded my money...Yeah, right...on a Holiday weekend...good luck with that. They obviously do not know how to take care of their customers properly. Would not recommend staying here.

THIS WAS MY EMAIL TO THE MGR, TANIA- WHICH I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE FROM... Dear Tania, For the first time since January 9, 2012 my boyfriend and I haven't spent good quality time together. This weekend (7/13-15/12) was supposed to be a relaxing, reconnecting time for us. You see he was unfortunate to contract Necortizing Fasciitis in January. He spent 4 long weeks in the ICU in a induced coma at Good Sam Hospital in San Jose, and a total of 8 weeks in the hospital. We almost lost him twice, he's gone through 6 surgery's and numerous skin graphing. He had to re-learn all the basics that we all take for granted, like eating and walking. Still to this day he's is in Physical Therapy twice a week and walks with a limp. He has four children and I have two, and this was the weekend we had put aside for ourselves. When we checked in Friday everything was fine, we were excited to get away and enjoy ourselves. Saturday is when the shower started making a very loud noise, Brian was out buying some wine to take down to the beach. I got out of the shower and the hotel phone was ringing. It was a very pleasant women on the other end asking if the tub was running because it was shaking the hole building.. I laughed and said, "no that was the shower, the tub hasn't been ran today" she proceeded to tell me that she needed to get us out of that room and into another. I told her that was fine, just please give us the same amenities. She said no problem. When Brian came back from the store I told him we where moving rooms due to the, what I assumed broken shower. We packed our things and went down to the front desk and the lady proceeded to give us another room, we went over and checked it out and I noticed we didn't have a private balcony.I called the front desk and asked her if there was another available because I liked sleeping with the slider open? She told me that she would try to move people around to accommodate us and would let us know. We left for a few hours and while we were out we got a phone call telling Brian that our original room was repaired and for us to stop by the front desk when we got back and they will re-key our key. Later that night I was going to take a bath, I turned on the the tub and waited for the hot water to get warm, and I plugged the tub.. I went back probably dive min later to add some cold water and the hot water was barely luke warm! I was irritated and called the front desk. I told her i had a complaint about the hot water, the woman was someone different from earlier. She immediately had attitude and accused me of not knowingly how to use the hot and cold water! I asked her what her name was and she told me Molly. I told Molly that something needed to change, whether the room or the water. She told me there was nothing she could do since the maintenance man was gone for the night. I told her, " are you telling me we have to take cold showers ?" She told me, just don't take one until tomorrow... I told her this was ridiculous, and she needed to call whom ever she needed to. She said she would call me back in a few minutes. And she did.. She told me that the water heater was turned down and she was going to turn it up and to give it 15-20 min before showering. Brian waited a hour to shower, and let me tell you, he took a cold shower and the shower still made that crazy sound!! I was livid! Nothing was fixed, and we were just shuffled around! And thinking about it now makes me mad and very disappointed. Our close friends recommended your residence to us in high regards. I will never refer anyone to you, and I would have to do some considering to come back. We spent $378.32 for the most crappy weekend.

Loved the stay. The large windows overlooking the ocean, the hot tub in the comfort of our own room, the ultra-comfortable bed, the receptionist (on both occasions--arriving and leaving), the everything. I'd definitely recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, cozy, near-SF stay at an affordable price. I'll be back soon!

The Pacifica Beach Hotel was good. We had an Ocean view room with balcony and a great view of the beach. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it could use some up-dating. They should remove the in room Jacuzzi tubs and increase the size of the bathroom. They should put permanent patio chairs and tables on the balcony though as we had to bring heavy chairs & a table from the room. The staff was great. Helpful always. I could not ask for more in that regard. The Peruvian Restaurant on site was very good. We drove to Fisherman's Wharf in half an hour just after 07:00am so it was a perfect location for us.
