A Blizzard of Holiday Cheer

We are starting out with our seasonal favorites gently drifting by. Then, first thing in the morning on Christmas eve and through xmas day, it will be a beautiful blizzard, we promise!

#TuneInTurnOn  +Inessa Anderson +Rebecca Webb  #holidaymusic
We started unwrapping our amazing holiday music 12 days before Christmas and the countdown is on. So many shiny and bright songs to share. Allan Sherman to the Wailers, to Paul McCartney and John Lennon, to the Ramones and The Singing Dogs and more chestnuts from favorites like Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong. Plus, lots [...]

The Junebugs Interview and Live Performance

The first thing that strikes you about Portland’s +The Junebugs  is that the name fits.  Not that bugs are generally whimsical, but a junebug is, honestly, one of your less threatening insects. It comes with more of a “Hey, watch them go toward the light” vibe than any sort of panic like the type induced by, say, your killer bees.

Sedaris’ Smartypants Santaland

For the fifth consecutive year, +Portland Center Stage is presenting the irreverent one-Elf show, The Santaland Diaries. Based on the true chronicles of David Sedaris’ experience as “Crumpet the Elf” inside the Santaland Display of Macy’s flagship store in New York City, this cult classic riffs on a few of Sedaris’ exceptionally odd encounters during the height of the holiday crunch.

Crater Lake is gorgeous this time of year. See for yourself.
It’s generally not cool to wake up your tent mate, especially on a winter camping trip when it’s really cold and very early. But the stunning sunrise…

A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens

The Second City’s A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens, presented by +Portland Center Stage thru December 24, is a hilarious send-up (or knock down) of the traditional Charles Dickens’ holiday classic.

We were lucky enough to spend some quality time with Jamie Moyer (not the former Seattle Mariner) who plays “The Ghost of Christmas Present,” “Ruby Zantini” and six or seven or eight other characters in the show.

Introduction

Portland Radio Project has been honored for outstanding achievement with two Edward R. Murrow Awards, the highest honor in electronic journalism. The awards recognize the PRP.fm website and our Community Voices news series. Read more about the awards here.

Thanks for stopping by our Google+ page. PRP.fm is our baby. The radio station that could. Our family and friends thought we were a little nuts to take this on but… what can we say? We love radio. It’s in our blood. And we think radio is at its best when rooted in community.

We’re hoping if you’ve landed on this page that you’re a little bit crazy, too. Crazy about music, great radio, local news, your community, helping your friends and neighbors – you know, that kind of stuff. That’s what PRP is about. We’re doing this because we know there is a place for awesome local radio.

We’re counting on you to help us spread the word. If you like what you hear, tell your music-loving friends to check us out.

And we definitely depend on your financial support. If you’re already supporting Team PRP, thank you VERY much! If not, we would greatly appreciate your support.  Your donations to PRP are tax deductible.

PRP is a nonprofit corporation in Oregon. Our fiscal sponsor is an established 501(c)3, We Make the Media. It is through WMTM’s nonprofit status that we are able to accept tax-deductible donations, while our federal status is pending with the IRS.

If you can’t afford to make a contribution, no worries. We hope you’ll continue to listen to PRP, spread the word and give us feedback.
