#FBF to thePRMA blog archives: Are you "too this" for the #DIEPflap? http://bit.ly/1LQbDyF #breastcancer
I've spoken to several ladies recently who have had the same misconception about DIEP flap surgery. They were scared they were "too skinny". The truth of the matter is that you don't need to be overweight to be a candidate for DIEP flap surgery. What matters is the distribution of the fat that you do have.

New #breastcancer screening highlights importance of knowing your breasts and finding a doctor you trust http://www.http://on.wsj.com/1DZpjGC
For women with dense tissue, mammograms can be less accurate so new tests offer better detection but often more false alarms

Women who do not have enough abdominal tissue for #DIPEflap reconstruction may be eligible for GAP flap http://bit.ly/1DcitQ7 #breastcancer
Women who do not have an adequate amount of abdominal tissue for reconstruction may be eligible for GAP (gluteal artery perforator) flap breast reconstruction. This procedure uses excess skin and fat from the gluteal (buttock) region and leaves all the gluteal muscle behind. Sparing the muscle preserves function and makes recovery easier.

I had implants put in 10 years ago after a double mastectomy and found out that they were both leaking. They had become very uncomfortable and even painful at times. Dr. Nastala is a very gifted surgeon that was able to reconstruct my breasts to the point at which I feel are better than my original pair! They feel natural and I believe they look very natural too. I could not be more pleased with the final result! Dr. Nastala and his entire staff are AMAZING!

I found Dr. Ledoux by referrals from happy former patients. He performed my Diep Flap reconstruction and I am very satisfied with the results. I look better than before the surgery. Even other cancer physicians that have examined me comment on his exquisite work. The staff is more like friends and have a very interactive website/Facebook to keep current and former patients involved. Monthly Pink Ladies meetings where you are welcome to ask questions and make friends with other patients. Dr. Ledoux and the staff caringly carried me through my cancer/reconstruction journey. Highly recommend and I have referred a few women already!

I am so happy that this was where I chose to have my DIEP reconstruction. I had been through a failed expander/implant procedure. I took a great deal of time and effort researching practices that specialized in this procedure across the country and the deciding factors for me was my comfort with my surgeon Dr. Chrysopoulo, the time he tool reviewing my information, photos and needs. The staff are excellent as well very attentive and helpful through out the entire procedure. I would HIGHLY recommend this practice.

I live in Texas but did not know about PRMA at first. While considering my options I knew I had to go to the place with the most experience and when I Google TX and breast reconstruction I was so happy to find PRMA. I am a larger BMI woman, so my surgeon did not offer me DIEP FLAP and tried to discourage me from it. I am sort of stubborn, so I pursued PRMA and I was glad I did. They did a lot of research on healthy higher BMI women and success with DIEP FLAP. I am happy to say I sailed through. I am so glad I found PRMA. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. I did not need more stress while dealing with breast cancer.

If you are in need of breast reconstruction after breast cancer this is by far the BEST place to regain anything that may have been lost within yourself since the beginning of it all. There is so much good within PRMA that I would lost if not for their professionalism and expertise.
