"#MyMama made me curious about the world around me. It was summer, I could have only been eight-years-old, and we lived in a dusty patch of the middle of nowhere. One day my mom took me and my little siblings to the library, told us to each pick out a book about another country and we spent the rest of the summer learning about the culture, crafts and food of far off places. We were kids in the desert, an hour away from the nearest mall, but she made us feel like the whole world was at our doorstep. I don’t think she knows what a big impact that had on me, but I know it buried wanderlust deep in my brain. #MyMama has been so supportive of my globetrotting and is always there to help me with my next adventure. The crazy thing is that she is originally from rural North Dakota and, while she made it to the West Coast, has never traveled much (let alone left the country). She is one of the most caring, hardworking, giving people I know and does everything possible to make sure her children have all the opportunity the world has to offer."

Mmm... Would you be able to publish a story of my own mother as well?

"She's been there for me on the biggest days of my life, and all the little ones in between. As I've gotten older she's become more than just #MyMama, she's become a best friend. She's taught me a lot about being a good partner, provider, mom and friend. She worked full-time my whole life, which showed me that I can have a career and be there for my family. She is also instilled in my sister and I a strong sense of independence--encouraging us to follow our dreams no matter where they took us, even when it was hard for her to have us live far away. #MyMama is smart, compassionate, funny, sensitive and tenacious all at the same time and I hope I continue to grow into a woman like her. I love you mom!"

"#MyMama Inspires me daily to be a better person as she effortlessly shows kindness, compassion and love to anyone that she encounters. Immigrating to America from Trinidad as a young pre-teen, without her parents, her being is a constant reminder that there is nothing that I cannot overcome. Forced to take care of herself at such a young age in a foreign country, my mother spent a lot of her young life working and carrying responsibilities that most children were not obligated to even think about.

Hearing about her stories of her life and experiences as a young girl always left me thinking how strong my mother is and how strong I could be. Though she did not have the support or means to go to college, my mom has always motivated my sister and I to continue our education, be healthy and live the life that she always dreamed that her kids could have in America...She has made sacrifices and worked so hard so that my siblings and I could have a life much better than the life that was the reality for her and my other family living in Trinidad.

I can say now as a young adult, my mom is STILL my superhero...Thank you to #MyMama for making me into the strong, motivated woman that I am today. Because of her, I see no limits."
