There has been no shortage of big promises, but in the end, they all left the middle class staring into thin wallets while their manipulators were living high on the hog.

#establisment   #middleclass   #workingclass   #Reaganomics   #trickledown   #economics   #deregulation   #NAFTA   #bailouts   #recession
The establishment was good at making big promises, but in the end, they left few crumbs on the table for the middle class.

Successful entrepreneurs are not simply risk-takers, they are calculated risk-takers. They accept their emotions as sources of information that can be differentiated, appraised and used.

What do Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffett have in common? They are both calculated risk takers.

If a resume can’t defend you, a video is a huge risk.

#resume   #jobs    #jobsearch   #jobhunt   #video   #careeradvice
If HR people don’t have adequate time to read resumes, how can you seriously suggest to job hunters that personnel jockeys are going to sit and watch videos for hours?

Why play when you can't win?

You never know which keywords will trigger a positive response. It’s like buying a lottery ticket.

Is there any reason for the Panglossian view of the economy?

#economy #jobs #jobsearch #unemployment #underemployment
In spite of GDP growth, in spite of earnings growth, in spite of job creation, the economy can only be characterized as Krugman has, as a “sour economy.”

Trickle-down economics has been a disaster for the country. Even more concerning, Rubio is campaigning in part by calling republicans the "party of Reagan".

Should you take the job before you’ve seen the employee policy manual?

#AsktheHeadhunter   #jobhunt   #job   #jobsearch   #careeradvice   #hr   #employers
Did you ever ask to see a menu at a restaurant only to be denied? Of course not. In business, take caution at accepting a job from a company that will not divulge everything you need to know.

Often companies take advantage of individuals - by utilizing these & other tactics - because individuals rarely have the resources, let alone the information, to engender any repercussions. It pays to do research throughout the course of your job hunting -- especially before one commits to an employer.

"There is only one thing a woman should have to do to get paid as much as a man: her job."

Women who do the same work as men aren’t the problem. Employers who pay unfairly are.

So true. Women deserve a really good pay raise like their male counterparts. Equal pay for the same amount of work being done by all genders.

Just how insulated are you from mainstream America? Take this quiz, and tell us your results.

There's a new upper class that's completely disconnected from the average American and American culture at large, says Charles Murray. Take this 25-question quiz to find out just how thick your bubble is.

I worked long enough to get my ssdi, when I was younger. I'm now 63. I will be 64 in May 2016. I know my ssdi will change over, as your book says. What I would like to know is, can I take my retirement out now, and not affect my ssdi benefits when I turn 66 at full retirement age, and It comes time for them to change me over from ssdi to retirement.
