@BaldSEO does some hard work to parse some, well, bald scamming in the SEO space.....
A few years ago, I did some work for a comparison shopping/coupon website. Curious about how well the site was doing in regard to their SEO, I did a few search queries for some of the terms I remembered being big traffic drivers. I didn’t see my former client on page one for the first few queries, […]

Forget that Internet thing! +The New York Times spent millions on an online interface to its circulation system to reduce labor and phone costs and increase efficiency. But both a phone rep and her supervisor agreed this morning that the only way to be sure my paper stops and starts on time is to call the 800 number and talk to a person.

Early in Siva Vaidhyanathan's book "The Googlization of Everything," he notes that skepticism and suspicion of Google’s motives seems higher in Europe and other parts of the world than in the United States. So I asked my new MOOC students what they found to be true in their own countries. #googlemedia
In which Coursera students from around the world reflect on how Google is viewed in their countries and among their friends.

I think that we in Europe work more accordingly to our laws and Google seems to have its own laws. This makes European skeptic. Or maybe it is only because Google is from other place in the universe...???

I begin to turn my attention from teaching my recent #MOOC to understanding what just happened: Currently the lead piece in the IDEAS section of Quartz  http://qz.com/149406 #medill #googlemedia
My first massively open online course ended recently, and I just can’t stop asking multiple-choice questions. Here's one: Which of the following statements might be true? 1) Two-thirds of those enrolled never showed up 2) More than half of the students earned a passing grade It’s obviously a trick question since the answer is “both.” The apparent...
