Here's a great photo of a whirling dervish whipping up the dust at a ceremony in Benin, taken by Alice on our Accra to Ouagadougou trip. We still have a couple of places available for our January 2019 departure so if you fancy an early new year break (!) come join us as we travel through #Ghana #Togo #Benin and #Burkina Faso! www.overlandingwestafrica.com/accra-to-ouagadougou

When driving through #Senegal you're often treated to some truly spectacular landscapes, as highlighted in this wonderful photo that Rob Kuhlman took on our #Dakar to #Freetown trip. We've just sold the last spot on our November 2018 departure but still have 3 places available on our April 2019 trip (which operates in the opposite direction, from Freetown to Dakar) - come join us for the adventure! www.overlandingwestafrica.com/freetown-to-dakar #Overland #Adventure #Travel #WestAfrica

Our 2018-19 season of trips are now at 80% capacity - which is a great achievement considering we only opened the bookings just over 2 months ago! To remind us of what's coming up later in the year here's a great shot of Aminah and our #Dakar to #Freetown trip driving into the #SierraLeone capital, taken by passenger Ina #Overland #Adventure #Travel #WestAfrica

If you look closely at this image you'll see a number of recycled objects from mobile phones to television remote controls to a computer mouse. It's good to know the skilled craftspeople of #Senegal have found another use for these items! Great photo from passenger Kath Donaldson taken on our #Freetown to #Dakar trip!

The skills of the artists and artisans throughout the countries of #WestAfrica truly are second to none. You will find a whole array of tempting items to buy, including beautiful textiles & fabrics, wooden masks & statues and an array of musical instruments. This wonderful photo from Mahesh Patel - taken on our #Accra to #Freetown trip last year, highlights one such artisan plying his trade in northern #IvoryCoast Come join us later this year as we once again journey through the region www.overlandingwestafrica.com/freetown-accra-inc-liberia/

A typical view you'll see during the week we spend traversing the #FoutaDjalon highlands in #Guinea on our #Dakar to #Freetown trip, arguably the most beautiful part of the #WestAfrica region. Come join the adventure this November as we travel through #Senegal #Gambia #GuineaBissau #Guinea and #SierraLeone! www.overlandingwestafrica.com/dakar-to-freetown (photo via passenger Sascha Heeney)

Nothing quite beats bush camping in the desert - as this wonderful photo from passenger John Stenson shows - taken in Western Sahara on our #Dakar to #Marrakech trip!
Further in from the #WesternSahara coastline is the wreckage of Pelican-16, an Avro Shcakleton aircraft which came down in the desert in 1994. A fascinating documentary about this flight is now available to view on YouTube - which is all the more fascinating for the fact that all 19 on board survived. Here is the link to part 1 - though the most remarkable footage can be seen in part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCemSU7kAdc&feature=youtu.be
