2 pieces of good news in this week. Firstly, a huge welcome to Jo, Dominik, Becky, Kath, Douglas, Howard, Sharon and Mike who've all booked onto our trips in the past 2 weeks - good to have you all onboard and to see most of our trips now nearly full!
Secondly, we're pleased to know that one of the more remote borders we intend to cross on our Freetown to Accra and Accra to Freetown trips - the frontier between Ivory Coast and Guinea - has finally reopened - the final land border to do so since the end of the devastating Ebola outbreak of 2014-15, so at last people and goods can move between the 2 countries again. Here's a picture from passenger John Osachoff of Aminah at the said border - come join us for the adventure! www.overlandingwestafrica.com/overview-and-availability

The Fouta Djalon is in many ways the most beautiful part of #Guinea and is always a firm favourite with our passengers. Here we spend a week traversing the highlands allowing time to go trekking in the mountains to waterfalls, canyons, escarpments and traditional villages. Check out this wonderful photo collage from passenger Alexi O'Brien who joined us on our #Freetown to #Dakar trip back in March 2016 - summing up the beauty of this part of Guinea perfectly! #Overlanding #Adventure #Travel #WestAfrica #Tourism

One of the best things about overland adventure travel is the people you get to meet along the way. Here's a great photo of Aminah and our
#Accra to #Freetown group at a beautiful village we stay at in #IvoryCoast  - with some of the friendliest and most welcoming people you'll ever get to meet! Come join us in October for our next run through the region - discounts apply if booking multiple trips! www.overlandingwestafrica.com

Here's a great photo of Aminah parked up at a bush camp by the Domes de Fabedougou in the #Banfora region of #BurkinaFaso #WestAfrica  - taken by passenger Zoe Humber as she went climbing on the rocks above!
We visit a number of similar sites in and around the Banfora region on our #Accra to #Freetown trip which starts in February 2017. From the #Sahara #Desert to the High Atlas Mountains, check out these superb photos from our #Marrakech to #Tangier trip via Al's latest blog. This is off the beaten track #Morocco at its VERY best, visiting a number of places well away from the main tourist drag, including a 3 night camel trek in the Sahara Desert not far from the Algerian border; a stunning trek to the Akhiam Caves; and a beautiful journey through the mountains visiting the Eastern High Atlas National Park en route. Check out Al's latest blog and all of the superb photos from our passengers here! www.overlandingwestafrica.blogspot.co.uk/…/rain-in-sahara-t… #Overlanding   #Adventure #Travel #WestAfrica

Good friend of Overlanding West Africa Simon Fenton took this lovely photo of the colourful fishing boats along the river in St Louis #Senegal on one of his visits there. Having lived in the country for quite a few years, he's just finished writing his second book and there'll be a launch event on 28 September at Stanfords in London. Please find full details of the event via the comments below, and if you like the look of St Louis why not join us on our #Dakar to #Marrakech trip in April 2017 - a truly epic overland journey! www.overlandingwestafrica.com/dakar-to-marrakech

St Louis in the north of #Senegal is a fascinating city, with old colonial era architecture, a thriving fish market and a vibrant arts and craft scene. Check out this brilliant shot of a local man in the historic quarter, taken by passenger Rowan on our #Dakar to #Marrakech trip in April 2016! If you fancy visiting St Louis with us - and other places of interest in northern Senegal - then please check out our next Dakar to Marrakech trip in 2017 here: www.overlandingwestafrica.com/dakartomarrakech #Overlanding #Adventure #Travel #WestAfrica #TTOT

One of the highlights of travelling through the forest region of #Guinea #WestAfrica is getting to see a 'pont de llana' (or vine bridge). Making and maintaining these incredible structures involves a huge amount of skill, which unfortunately may soon be lost as new roads in the region reduce the demand for these bridges to transport goods around. Luckily there are still a few impressive examples about, like this one Zoe is walking over on our recent #Accra to #Freetown trip! Come join us in 2016 www.overlandingwestafrica.com/trip-2 (Photo via passenger Zoe Humber) #Overlanding #Adventure #Travel #RTW #TTOT
