Since computers and smartphones became more readily available and affordable, there has been a change in the way many jobs are performed. Instead of having to physically write, move, file, or lift papers and other objects, everything is handled on a computer or phone. But while this is convenient, it has increased the risk of repetitive strain injury, or RSI. It is important for those who regularly work at a computer to keep reading and find out more about this condition.

Aging often causes wear to the discs of cartilage that cushion vertebrae. The cartilage starts to dry out and becomes thinner, and tiny cracks may appear in the disc’s annulus (the outer layer). The material inside the disc may be forced out through these cracks, causing the disc to collapse or break. This leads to inflammation and what doctors call “micromotion instability.” In this case, the disc doesn’t respond to spinal movement as effectively, leading to pain. Click the link to know more.
