Here's a sneak preview of the trial planting for our forthcoming National Organic Cereals event, presented by our host farmer, Mark Lea (don't you think he's a natural?).

A bit of an experiment here, with the new 360 panorama feature of Android 4.2. In theory, you should be able to click on the little panorama icon (top left of the image) and see the glorious, but chilly, morning from our yard...

That monster sunflower we posted a pic of last week has bloomed. By request (though I wouldn't say 'popular request'...) here's the flower, with the bees hard at work.

Malmö has set itself a target that all the food procured by the city and served in schools, hospitals and other City of Malmö institutions and venues will be organic by 2020.

Following on from the 360 pic below, here's another way we're using technology. We built this interactive map of organically-certified abattoirs two-and-a-half years ago. Only saying this now because it's had an update today and it seems timely.

Certification officer, Katie, is leaving us soon, but before she goes she's found a way to leave an indelible mark! And there's loads of it!

We thought you might like to see this panoramic view of us out for a day's filming with the team from Google. It probably couldn't have been a more perfect day for it. The shot was taken with a Google Galaxy Nexus smartphone (running Android 4.1.1 - for the geeks!).

It's the land of a licensee who's conveniently close to our offices, on estate land of the National Trust, which maintains and runs the neighbouring historic mansion house! It's a beautiful place, as you can tell, with rare breed cattle roaming the grounds.

We had a very dry summer last year, but 2012 has seen pretty much unprecedented deluges (and the consequent flooding) all over the UK, with the odd spell of hot weather. Fortunately, the rain gave us a break for pretty much all of the Olympics!

News and views from the world of organics
Introduction
We are the longest-standing organic control body in the UK. We've been inspecting and licensing organic food, farming and other enterprises (cosmetics, storage, catering, etc) for almost two decades.

At OF&G we take pride in offering great service to our licensees and our certification team are all drawn from the agricultural and/or manufacturing sectors, as appropriate.

In more recent years we have begun the inspection and certification of compost as well as the digestate output of anaerobic digestion plants - allowing the finished products to be treated as a product that is a good source of agricultural fertiliser, rather than a waste by-product.

We have our headquarters in Shrewsbury, in the beautiful county of Shropshire, UK, and provide our services throughout Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
