Orange County Roofing, With Pride THE ROOFING LICENSE NUMBER:

The California Contractors State License Law requires contractors to display their license number prominently along with all advertising. A wise roofing consumer should make note of the roofers license number when shopping for roofing contractors and check it with the Contractors State License Board, for the following: Date issued, Insurance, employees, Disciplinary actions, etc... A very important bit of data is how long they've in business under that particular license number. No excuses should be accepted like "we were in business under another number before". The current License number is the only one relevant to you.

There are some good Orange County Roofing Contractors with high standards and good intentions, some of whom do a fine job, but too often others fall short, you've heard the stories. Part of the problem is a lack of understanding of the mechanisms of functional roofing and water proofing. We are not all the same. If a contractor is following the guidelines of the roofing industry he is failing you, because believe it or not, the national roofing guidelines have many flaws in them.
At OC Pride Roofing, we are not guided by the National roofing and roof repair guidelines, we exceed them by far. We practice higher standards as defined by us, from many years of accurately interpreting what works and what doesn’t. We Truly Set The Bar...

Attic Ventilation, #atticventilation Functionally, whirlybirds work great. The more attic venting, the better. Aesthetically, they stand over the top of your ridge. Maybe not the best thing. You need to decide which is more important to you personally. Attic environment Options: Solar Powered Electric: No monthly electricity usage costs but they don't seem to last long before you have to replace them. Hard Wired Electric: If you set the thermostat only when needed, the electricity usage is reasonable and they last a long time, 15 years or so. Ridge Vents: With either composition or tile, a ridge vent system can be constructed. This can be a good system combined with the other options but either way I do like to incorporate the use of a fan to help air movement. With any of these options, it's important to have an equal number of square inches of passive venting. Quantity and Placement: Calculate your attic floor space. Using the 300/1 ratio, you need 1sq foot of venting for every 300sq feet of attic floor space. Placement should be 50% near the ridge and 50% near the lower areas. Most people don't like to put vents on the front side but better distribution means better cooling. Note: If you have a cathedral ceiling venting is much more complicated but can be engineered. Also proper insulation is very important. If you found this information useful, please like us on Facebook. Also, a Google review would be appreciated. Roofing Consumer Tip:

Roofing Consumers Beware of improperly licensed contractors on Yelp and AngiesList!
With popularity of these forums, Contractor fraud is prevalent. By my estimation, there is 25-40% Improperly licensed contractors posing as Roofing Contractors on these forums. Most are general contractors illegally providing roofing services, which promotes poor workmanship and puts the customer at risk.
A specialized roofing license requires the licensee to obtain workers compensation insurance regardless if they have employees or not. This helps to curtail payroll cheating and the like.
To summarize, Hire a licensed roofing Contractor with a C39 license. You should always check their license either by company name or by their license number.
If you have any question about a licensee or his claims, you may call me at 949-751-7159 or visit our website for more info. http://orangecountyroofing.com

Contractors law provides restrictions for General Contractors as stated below:
“a general building contractor shall not take a prime contract for any project involving trades other than framing or carpentry unless the prime contract requires at least two unrelated building trades or crafts other than framing or carpentry, or unless the general building contractor holds the appropriate license classification or subcontracts with an appropriately licensed specialty contractor to perform the work.”
