Crackling Coals!

Nothing quite brings out the carnivore in you than the sounds of a grill being fired up. And when you have a setting lit by the light of a million stars overlooking a private lake, you can be forgiven for thinking you are in gastronomic heaven. The Peppercorn at #OrangeCountyResorts #Coorg pays homage to the subtle art of the grill.

A Burst of Colour

Meet the Lambanis of Hampi. A once nomadic tribe that now live in settlements called Tandas that dot the Hampi landscape. Hailing from Rajasthan, the Lambani women like to wear intricately designed and crafted dresses with an emphasis on mirror-work. Add to this their weakness for heavy anklets, large nose-rings, braided hair, colourful necklaces and trademark jewelry and you get an idea of what a burst of colour actually means. Blending seamlessly into the grey, ochre and pink toned landscape, they add a dash of the mysterious to this mythical land.

Workaholics Anonymous

All work and no play makes Jill a good bee. And a ‘live’ bee. For it’s not unknown for the hive bosses, to knock off Worker Bees suspected to be sleeping on the job. No sir… it just won’t do. There’s a lot of work to be done. Hives to be built, honey to be produced, Drones to be fed… and all this can’t begin unless our indefatigable workers do their job of collecting pollen and nectar.

The Light of Romance

There is something about candlelight that brings out the romantic in us. Poets have consumed reams of paper trying to capture its essence in words. At #OrangeCountyResorts #Coorg we have specially crafted a Romantic Dining experience like no other. Dedicated to the romantic in you, this experience is laid out on a deck overlooking a tranquil lake. Lit by the light of candles and, on occasion, enhanced by the light of the moon, it is an ode to our loved ones. An ode, that is best experienced by the senses rather than expressed in words.

A Mythical Landscape

Hampi is well known for its famous ruins. Few know that it is also a landscape imbued with the presence of gods, goddesses and mythical heroes. The Tungabhadra river, which bisects this land, is linked to the ancient legends and local myths associated with Virupaksha, a form of Lord Shiva. More popularly, though not as ancient, is Hampi’s connection with the Ramayana. Believed to be the location of the realm of the Vanara (mythological half-man, half-monkey) brothers Vali and Sugriva and the birthplace of Hanuman, many events of the Ramayana are identified with specific locations in the scenery around Hampi.

Pandi Curry!

To those in the know, the name itself sets the taste buds tingling. Synonymous with the Kodavas of Coorg, Pandi Curry is a traditional pork curry that is dark, divine and intensely flavourful. Cooked with Kachampuli, a viscous malty vinegar extracted from the Kodampuli fruit, this is a dish that is as earthy and tangy as the land of its birth. The next time you find yourself at #OrangeCountyResorts #Coorg give your taste buds something to remember us by!

Etched in Stone

Hampi – a once magnificent city now reduced to ruins. A place that reverberated with the sight and sounds of pomp and pageantry as the erstwhile Rayas of the Vijayanagara Empire went about their everyday life, a life that was dominated by ceremony. The Raya Trail of #OrangeCountyResorts #Hampi lifts the veil of silence that surrounds these ruins, to bring to life the private and public world of the Rayas. A world that now lies etched in stone in the Royal center of this once glorious city.

It starts as soon as you get down from the car,.You are welcomed in a swirl of drums, nadaswarams and smiles. With a hot towel and cold coffee we are whisked away, as if through a magic portal, into another world. Your senses slowly become accustomed to the air, to the light , the lush green environment.Into the villa and i jump straight into our own pool.We don't just eat, we feast..Three fun soaked days and we are bathed smiles all through. The staff aret as happy as we are.........It is a sensory experience like no other.
