#TheAfricanDreamLLC finds it tougher with every police killing of a black person televised these days to aggregate enough fecal material to make it possible to give a crap about all the talk in America that racism doesn't exist. #BlackLivesMatter

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah led Ghana to independence from Britain in 1957 and served as its first prime minister and president. Nkrumah first gained power as leader of the colonial Gold Coast, and held it until he was deposed in 1966. Many of Nkrumah's words continue to resonate today!

Introduction

#TheAfricanDream -- Awakening Humanity

Oral Ofori is  the Founder and Producer of #TheAfricanDream, an award winning human interest story-telling concept  shared online. Conception of the idea for #TheAfricanDream started in 2010 as a blog (which became a business in 2015) when Oral decided to use his skills and experiences as a media practitioner to tell the stories of Africa and Africans from an African's perspective. By so doing, #TheAfricanDream project sought to share Africa's stories in a way that made it more candid and appealing to the African and also left both them and the non-African more enlightened and informed about the continent.

This project gives voice to the voiceless by helping to bring their ideas, successes, difficulties and opinions to the limelight in situations where they would otherwise have had no opportunities of doing so, it also helps to further spread the image and messages of the already achieved individuals. Even though the quest of this project is to encourage, motivate and inform, it also constructively criticizes the ills in societies and recommends or seeks out ways to make lives better in them. With the support of partners all around the globe, the project shares stories with other news websites it is affiliated with.

#TheAfricanDream TV show section of the brand started out in Connecticut (CT) USA where it first aired on Wallingford Public Access TV after Oral Ofori was elected to the board of directors of that station and encouraged to share African content with its audience: something which was already being done in writing by way of the blog since 2010 as mentioned above.

A little over half a year of airing on that CT television In 2013 the show was recognized by the Alliance for Community Media in the North East Region of the USA which covers over five American States. That recognition became a nomination for an award the show won in the 'Diversity Empowerment' category in the 2013 ACM-NE Region awards event in USA. The success of the show in Connecticut led to its relocation to the Washington DC area of the USA where it seeks to receive a much larger audience, clientele and more networking opportunities.

At the beginning of December 2014 in the Washington DC area the show began airing on the international channel of Fairfax Public Access TV in Virginia USA. We want to improve improve upon #TheAfricanDream brand by engaging in charity projects through the formation of a non-profit that will help the unfortunate and underprivileged in Africa, seek and create opportunities for students and young professionals on the continent to participate in internship and exchange programs outside the continent and collaborate with institutions and organizations in and out of African that share our dreams as we work on turning them into realities by Awakening humanity to the goodness that lies within every heart.

Acquisition of better logistical materials needed to create more stories and the ability to travel to capture these stories have been a difficulty this project struggles with. We are thankful to our partners for helping us overcome some of these difficulties, especially the Global Health College and the AfrikanPost Newspaper, both located in the state of Virginia, USA, and to all our potential sponsors and contributors.

Our  interview show does not have a typical studio setting and is shot basically wherever the guests feel comfortable. There have even been instances where interviews have been recorded over the medium of the Internet through Google+ hangouts and later edited, so distance is never a hindrance. Also, one does not have to be a trained writer to help or join the quest to “Awaken Humanity” through our work, you simply need to have a passion and desire to genuinely affect lives positively.

#TheAfricanDream started airing on the international channel of Fairfax Public Access TV (on Channel 30 in the USA) via Verizon and Cox Cable every Friday at 1am (this is to accommodate its international audience who watch the show via respective satellite channels) and 3:30pm, and also on Sundays at 10:30am. All times are Eastern Standard Times of the USA. The show is also available online via sources like Vimeo, Twitter, Facebook, TribeZoneAfrica-TV and our social media portals. Our work has been recognized all over and in early 2015 we were featured as ambassadors by Black Bloggers Connect in their annual #BloggerWeek event in Washington DC.

Some recent guests on #TheAfricanDream are Hege Hertzberg -- Norwegian Diplomat, Mariatu Kargbo -- President and Founder of Global Health College, Jemila Abdulai -- Junior Consultant with the African Development Bank, Rocky Dawuni -- internationally acclaimed Reggae artiste  and humanitarian, Akua G. Asare -- Chair of the Washington DC Commission on African Affairs  among others.

We make room for anyone who has a story to tell that positively impacts our viewers, readers, partners and society, whether African or not. We also cover community events and tell stories of organizations as well as situations that positively impact, some of the stories of this nature are shared under the section of our website that is labeled “Giving”.

Oral Ofori is also an editor on Wikipedia; where #TheAfricanDream helps  to create articles for Africa.

We will be gratefully pleased if you shared our dream with your partners and friends who might be interested in helping us share the stories waiting to be told of the people, societies, organizations and situations waiting to be helped. Check out our sponsorship package and email us with the address below.

We believe our audience around the world will enjoy the outcome of any relationship we form with you and look forward to a fruitful corporation. At present, we are seeking to expand our networks and appeal for sponsorship to help us get more stories told and more awareness created not only about Africans, but about people who could use the power of the media to positively advance and improve and feel free to send us your ideas and stories as we will be glad to share, investigate or support them in our desire to achieve  #TheAfricanDream -- Awakening Humanity!

Humbly yours,

Oral Ofori of #TheAfricanDream
