It's such an honour to have been selected for the Short Film Lab mentorship programme for 2015.

The Short Film Lab is a mentoring scheme by Show Me Shorts, Script to Screen and NZ Film Commision for New Zealand writers to workshop fresh new ideas for their short films. We, the filmmakers, have the opportunity to get our short film ideas, evaluated and developed by experienced filmmakers in the NZ film Industry.

It's an intensive full day workshop on the 7th November, 2015 with opportunities for further script development and mentorship.

I'm really excited and can't wait for the opportunity to get experienced eyes on my projects and to develop my upcoming short film 'Lorna' into an educative, impactful short.

I travelled the North Island of NZ where I explored and met people from 7 NZ towns and Cities. I spent time and couch surfed in New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Napier, Taupo, Rotorua, Mt Manganui and Kuaotunu in the Coromandel. One word to describe the North Island – Fantastic beaches and stunning sunsets! (Ok, those are four) It was a shame I took the trip in winter. (That didn’t stop me from taking a dip though ;) )
If anybody has doubts about just upping and going, I promise you, it's ALMOST as easy as it sounds (I travelled around for 2 weeks on NZD$80).
All pictures were taken on the iPhone 5C and were edited by Felix Laurence. Check out some of his AMAZING work on Instagram: https://instagram.com/felixielaurens/

CALL ME FEATURED ON ZIMLINK's TEN SHORT AFRICAN FILMS TO WATCH WHILE WAITING IN THE RAIN.
Wooohooo!! Amazing news!! Ibra$tar & I co-wrote & co-produced "Call Me", a short film which was Directed by Mark Kaiyare in 2013. We got a team of super talented actors and filmmakers to work with us on this film.
I was super stocked to find out that "Call Me" was featured on Zimlink's list of "Ten Short African Films to Watch While Waiting in the Rain." There's so much we learnt from the project and I can't wait for us to reunite and work on even bigger and better films.
I'm super duper grateful to all the people involved and it's AMAZING how much we've each grown in our independent careers since then.
Check out the other films listed in the article at: http://www.zimlink.org/ten-short-african-films-to-watch-wh…/

CALL FOR PRODUCER(S)

Hi guys, I'm looking for (a) Producer(s) for a 15min short film on FGM that I'm currently working on called 'LORNA'. We're looking at mid-late 2016 Production dates. I'm currently in final drafting stages and early preproduction and will be both writer & director of the film.
Ideally looking for someone with experience, takes initiative and risks. The Producer will (amongst usual Production roles) play a huge role in looking out for funding and attracting influential "Friends of the Film." Connections to high profile feminists and activists is a plus.
Connections with Pokot people, ability to understand Pokot or any experience with Pokot culture is an added advantage.
Should be easily available over the internet as most of our preliminary communication will be online.

If this sounds like you or something you're interested in, please send your screen bio or cv with link(s) to previous work(s) to: opraho24@gmail.com with the subject tittle: LORNA PRODUCER.
I'll share with you a treatment of the script and you can determine whether it's a project you are happy to work on and we'll take it from there.

To learn more about me, check out my website: http://oprahoyugi.com/short-films

If you know anybody who fits this role, please share.
Also, if you're really itching to work on this project in any capacity please send an email with your screen bio or CV with links to previous works with subject line: LORNA CAST/CREW, and, who knows? We might make history together smile emoticon
