My India Today

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97P1-Ayqnkw&feature=youtu.be

This lecture has nothing to do with the magazine India Today. It is my take on my nation, India as it is today and the challenges that face us in the immediate future. It is my address to my fellow citizens to say that it is time we accepted the role of citizenship and understand that it means to take responsibility for the welfare of our nation and get involved to ensure that we build a nation that is truly strong and vibrant. Strength and vibrancy of nations is not a factor of money or weapons or resources, but of spirit; the courage to stand for justice, against oppression of all kinds. It is a reflection not of what we have but of who we are. It is a measure of our pride in being Indian.

One of our modern trends is to cast the entire world in the corporate mold with the presumption that it is the best way to run this world. The examples touted are of those national leaders who called themselves, 'CEO', in the same breath that they took to call themselves 'democratic'. Shows our confused thinking because there is nothing more un-democratic than a modern corporation. If you don't believe me, then in your coffee break reflect on whether you elected your manager and ask yourself if you would, if you could? And also ask yourself if your subordinates would elect you if they could. To top it all I am seeing a trend of our business schools trying to promote this thinking.

In that context, please see this article I wrote several years ago. I hope you will find it interesting. Please comment on the blog itself.
