Why Bitcoins matter
"One immediately obvious and enormous area for Bitcoin-based innovation is international remittance. Every day, hundreds of millions of low-income people go to work in hard jobs in foreign countries to make money to send back to their families in their home countries – over $400 billion in total annually, according to the World Bank. Every day, banks and payment companies extract mind-boggling fees, up to 10 percent and sometimes even higher, to send this money.

Switching to Bitcoin, which charges no or very low fees, for these remittance payments will therefore raise the quality of life of migrant workers and their families significantly. In fact, it is hard to think of any one thing that would have a faster and more positive effect on so many people in the world’s poorest countries."

Great piece by +Marc Andreessen for +The New York Times about #Bitcoin, “Why Bitcoin Matters,” in which he explains the relevancy of the digital currency and its future potential. This is worth reading — whether you've been using Bitcoin for months or are just first hearing about it.

More: http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2014/01/21/why-bitcoin-matters

For an alternative view, I would also recommend reading this rebuttal to Andreessen’s post, published on +Medium by +Glenn Fleishman, editor of The Magazine.

Ads are a bit behind, at least 3-4 years old. We used it in our wedding service :)

Great op-ed in +The New York Times on the future of Internet freedom:

"Much of the fight against censorship has been led by the activists of the Internet freedom movement. We can join this open source community, whether we are policy makers, corporations or individuals. Money, coding skills or government grants can all make a difference."
We have the technology to defeat censorship. Do we have the will?

Introduction

I'm an Account Manager at Twitter for the Netherlands and Belgium, working with brands to build and execute effective Twitter strategies.

Previously I co-founded Punchlime, where I served as General Partner seeking out innovative businesses, new technologies and disruptive ideas, helping companies to improve their performance and position them for sustainable growth.

Prior to joining Punchlime, I worked at Google where I was part of the Online Media Sales team, developing and implementing solutions for clients on Google AdWords, Google Display Network, Mobile Ads and YouTube.

I also served as a member of the Google Agency team, where I helped scale Google’s agency operations in Belgium and the Netherlands while leading the development of campaign strategies for top-tier clients.
