Need Help  -

Hey everyone, I've found myself looking after a new community of teenagers aged 11 to 14. I'm wondering if anyone has any resources/advice on how best to write content for this age group?

Luckily the subject matter is interesting in itself (computer games), and I'm learning a lot as I go. But any help would be greatly recieved :)

Hi +Oliver Conner, you should check out this notebook. There's a bunch of articles about teenagers and their usage of the Internet, covering topics like UX, cyber bullying, etc. Hope it helps! http://www.spundge.com/notebooks/8005/

Tools of the Trade  -

I think it would be great to kick off a discussion about the tools the group use to build the back end of their community websites. I am a fan of Drupal - anyone else use this?

Wading into more user friendly topic ...

I do believe that out of the "box" Wordpress has a better beginning user experience interface than Drupal 6. Drupal 7 is vastly improved, though still not as nice as Wordpress 3.5.

There are many great Wordpress or Drupal sites used to help support and develop communities of people. What make them great are the designers/developers/leaders behind the scenes, using their tools of choice to build that better community.

The power comes from the people knowing their tools well in the process of developing the community.

If I was a non-developer type and wanted to get started on a blogging platform, I would pick Wordpress (http://agchat.org/2012/07/which-blogging-service-should-i-use.html ). If I wanted to create a platform with multiple users and some tech tools of community (forums, wiki, etc), I would pick Drupal. I guess I know my Drupal side better than my Wordpress side;)

If you could share one article, book or resource that has helped or inspired you in your career, what would it be? I'll kick things off by linking to Jono Bacons really entertaining book 'The Art of Community' http://www.artofcommunityonline.org/downloads/jonobacon-theartofcommunity-1ed.pdf
