Джером, привет! Я увидела эту статью вчера на английском языке в первый раз. И сразу же кинулась ее пересказывать по-русски :) Спасибо за коммент! Good point! Кто знает, может все эти виды деятельности стимулируют одни и те же части мозга, но по-разному? А вообще, прочитав статью, сразу же захотелось проглотить волшебную таблетку с миелином, чтобы, наконец, осилить французский. И не забывать немецкий! Ну и армянский выучить, чего уж там :)

Alba Longa company is starting a new series of images, this time about the localization of movie titles. How do you like this one? Jaws in English became Les Dents De La Mer (Teeth from the sea) in French? Would you go watch a movie with a title like that? Why or why not? If not, what would be your suggestion?

In Portugal is "Tubarão" which means literally Shark. Much more simple than the French version:)

"The huge success of Orion in China can be attributed to localization. The company changed the names of its products to Chinese and added new flavors for local consumers. One of the representative examples is the Choco Pie. Its product name in Chinese has the meaning of Good Friend." #localization #marketing #business #translationservices
Orion is doing very successful business in China based on thorough localization. These days, its products are highly popular at not only big-box retailers but also neighborhood supermarkets. Last year, the local subsidiary of Orion supplied its products to approximately 160,000 retailers in China. The number increased by about 55,000 from a year earlier and is expected to break the 230,000 mark this year.

"Did you know in Indonesia, people love just hanging out? By hanging out, we mean sitting, talking, and doing nothing. This is called nongkrong. When 7-Eleven entered the Indonesian market in 2009, they paid attention to this part of the culture and adapted their stores accordingly. 7-Eleven saw that urban areas in Indonesia lacked places for young people to hang out. They decided to focus on providing this experience, rather than just being a convenience store. They combined the supermarket and inexpensive food aspect with a customer experience including 24 hour operations, parking, wireless connectivity, and live concerts with local bands. The 7-Eleven example is a great study of how a brand can benefit from adapting to a local market." #globalization #localization #marketing
With a large population and economy that continues to grow, what are some reasons to focus your global marketing efforts on Indonesia?

I have been an eager reader of Inbox Translation blog for several months and had a chance to chat with Alina Cincan on social networks, but it wasn't until recently that we had a chance to actually work together. What can I say? Alina is definitely one of the loveliest people I have ever met. Besides, she managed to create a dream agency that protects the interests of freelancers and at the same time delivers premium services to clients all over the world. We had a chance to collaborate on two marketing translation/transcreation projects, and it was a great experience. Thank you, Alina, and I surely hope we work together again... and again, and again! :)
