Why do people write this kind of comparisons:

if ( notUndecoded != false ) {
    // ...
}
else {
    // ...
}

As with any advertising, getting a WTF reaction or going viral doesn't necessarily equal getting the message across. If this ad was selling a product, the success of it could have been measured by tracking a change in sales. But, as this one sells an idea of staying in school, tracking its effectiveness would be a challenge. I think today's teenager's reaction to this would be "Did you see that awesome new video, where those kids blow up and shit?" rather than "Did you see this new cautionary video, we better not skip school".

Divert YOUR Course

This is relevant to several ongoing discussions and it's not important whether this story is factual or not. The sentiment is enough.

The drama that is currently unfolding on the streets of Kiev has understandably drawn an enormous amount of media attention. At a time when the EU is in such a funk, and when its diffidence in dealing with the aftereffects of the financial crisis has caused it to lose the [...]

also, to understand the situation with street protests and outbursts of violence in Kiev
it requires a deeper appreciation of the geo-politics, EU-propaganda that prepped the "signing of something" for months in advance, "traditional" Western Ukrainian nationalism, and whole bunch of other factors too... not the least agent provocateurs as well... )

Overpaid manbaby technologist Robert Scoble, famous for unapologetically wearing a face-mounted camera into public bathrooms, has outdone himself: as evidence that Google's face computers will be a hit, he recorded himself talking to a crew of eager high school girls.

Sean Guillory and I don't agree on everything (he's much more economically left-wing than I am, and rather more pessimistic about where Russia is heading) but he's extremely knowledgeable, an excellent writer, and someone and whose opinions deserve to be taken seriously. He recently wrote a truly outstanding piece that [...]

good, quite "authentic" (as far as I can tell anyway) Indian food... (service is very helpful and very friendly too - once they recognise me and accept the fact that one can order and eat TWO lamb vindaloos at one lunch... ;))

good Italian food venue overall, but most importantly - one of the very few remaining places in Melbourne where one can get a proper decent Pizza rather than "franchised" ones...
