Introduction

Welcome to Off The Page’s Google+ page!

Off the Page exists to discuss God’s story and how we can live it. We want to take the stories off of the pages of the bible and see how to translate them into life today.

Every video, blog post, and question asked is part of a conversation to discover what it means to be part of God’s story, because it cannot just mean going to church, reading the bible and praying. There has to be more to it than that.

Join us as we wrestle with issues of sexuality, transitions, relationships, and other topics that intersect with faith.

"You can lose your boat, lose your house with all the pictures inside it, lose your job, lose your most defining relationship. And still not lose you. And still not lose your soul. And still not lose your faith." — Jonathan Martin | How To Survive a Shipwreck | #OTPArticle #FromTheArchives

"I am tired of watching us patch our broken hearts with spackle made of Christian clichés. Just try to keep that clay-filled thing pumping. Just try to push empathy and compassion through those arteries clogged with hardened grief." — Sarah Wells

"I don’t think about death very often. I do my best to avoid situations where I think it might be likely. But the truth is people die in all sorts of ways, with and without provocation." — Cara Strickland

"Even though my experience ended well, I view God differently now. I still believe in his power, sure, but in this season of faith, I’m learning about his character and what it means to rest in him." — Jenni Von Tobel

"The world is full of splendorous things that are meant to be fully explored and enjoyed, but a human tendency is to be afraid of missing out on exploring them—because of the sheer magnitude of things that exist." — Matthew and Joy Steem | The Life of the Mind | #OTPArticle http://bit.ly/otplifeofmind

"Faith is not a blind leap with the expectation that, against all evidence, someone will be there to catch you. Faith is being sure of things hoped for and certain of what cannot be seen." — Sarah Wells | Certain of What We Hope For | #OTPArticle #FromTheArchives

"Representation is important. It’s important for little girls to see women on television and in positions of authority. It’s important for various ethnicities to see themselves and their cultures represented on public platforms. I’ve been blessed to have seen representations of myself in the media, the academy and even in the White House. It wasn’t until I saw the character of Grace Greenleaf on my television screen that I realized how significant it is for me as an Associate Pastor and preacher at a local church to see myself in my profession represented in a genuine authentic way." — Khristi Adams http://bit.ly/otpgracegreenleaf

"Come. Stay. Bring your creative best to a church in your city, your neighborhood, your burb, and let it be the home that you come back to again and again." — Addie Zierman

"Yet as much as it it painful, loss can be the beginning of a new space. It can be the leveled ground waiting to be built on." — Emily Van Houten | The Art of Losing | #OTPArticle

"When I am loved, I am confident. Assertive. Welcomed and welcoming. When love is poured in to me, my natural reaction is to pour love out and in to others, and on and on, until the whole world might know this love." — Sarah Wells | Fear Distorts. Love Transforms. | #OTPArticle
