The term is from England, but the fashion from New York.
Michael Lander originally shared:

Don't you just adore well fitting garments? Clothing treated with care and attention during production.

In Olde England, "bespoke" meant creating tailored clothing made at a customer's behest. Back then, the gentleman's surname was written on the actual fabric, hence the garment was "spoken for."

Bespoken has taken that philosophy to heart, and strives to create clothing for today’s man with the same level of fit and craftsmanship as this bygone era.

They are part Savile Row, part Rock n’ Roll.

They strongly believe that the quality and craftsmanship of yesteryear can be seamlessly merged with a modern interpretation of today’s style. They bring this vision to life under the tutelage of the pattern cutters & craftsmen of Turnbull & Asser (one of the most eminent shirt makers in the world).

In fact, Bespoken is the only brand produced out of the legendary Turnbull & Asser shirting factory in Gloucester, England. They are proud to say it’s one of the last remaining factories in not just the United Kingdom, but in all of Europe.

They take great pride in using mills that have been producing first-rate fabrics from as far back as 1796, and their manufacturing is strictly exclusive to Europe and the United States.

Fashion designer Araks Yeramyan apparently lives in New York. Therefore, we claim her as part of New York Fashion.
Fashion Brands originally shared:

Araks Yeramyan's designs are based on the principle that a woman's beauty should be effortless and is most evident when she is comfortable. Araks Yeramyan is inspired by all elements of design, and has a genuine fascination with color and texture. She studied at Parsons and the Central Saint Martins School in London, where she developed her skills in design and in all areas of visual art including painting, photography and silk screening.

Inspired by her studies and her experience at Marc Jacobs, where she interned through out schooling, and after holding a design position with J.Crew, Araks harnessed her entrepreneurial spirit and developed her namesake lingerie collection which highlighted form and fluidity.

In 2006, Araks Yeramyan launched her ready to wear collection based on the principle of effortless beauty.

I believe she is currently a fashion designer based in New York.

Another intelligent and style concise fashion designer. Clearly, it takes brains to attend Brown and then move into the world of fashion.

The Lyn Devon collection is a reflection of Lyn's passion for modernizing iconic American design. She has a keen sensibility for bringing precise tailoring and impeccable finishing to clothing. Inspired by American icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Beene to Mizrahi and Lauren, she combines timeless elegeance with her own bold and spirited perspective.

Lyn was born and raised in New York (www.NYFashion.org) and has received her degree at +Brown University and then went on to study at Parsons. Lyn designed womens Ready-to-Wear for Ralph Lauren. While there, she also began designing and producing custom clothing out of her living room for a small private clientele.

Lyn Devon presented her first full Ready-to-Wear collection in September 2005.

Her line continues to be produced entirely in New York City.

What is your thoughts in regard to the Lyn Devon brand and her collections?

New York fashion designer Betsey Johnson has built her long-standing career in fashion by following her own set of rules. Known for her celebration of the exuberant, the embellished, and the over the top, Betsey has been rocking the fashion industry with her unique and original designs since the 1960's. Her commitment to remain true to her one-of-a-kind vision has afforded Betsey continued success in an industry known for its fickleness. Her ability to change with the times while keeping her designs pure has not gone unnoticed. At the 1999 CFDA Awards, Betsey was presented The Timeless Talent Award created especially for her, which recognized her influence on fashion throughout her career.

Betsey was born in Connecticut and spent her childhood in dance classes. Her aspirations to be a dancer and her love for costumes laid the foundation for Betsey's creativity and inspiration, which is still evident in her designs today. In 1964, Betsey officially entered the New York fashion scene by winning Mademoiselle magazine's "Guest Editor Contest." One year later, she landed the top designer position for Paraphernalia, a clothing boutique that at the time housed the hottest young London designers, including Mary Quant and Paco Rabanne, among others. What would soon become known as Betsey's trademark look began its formulations here: sexy silhouettes, hippie inspired flowing fabrics, whimsical detailing and, most importantly, a fabulous fit.

In the early 1970's, Betsey came into creative control of the label Alley Cat, a label which set the trends for the 70's rock n' roll clothing, with bohemian and ethnic styles. In 1972, along with Halston, Betsey won the coveted Coty Award becoming the youngest designer to ever receive the honor.

After a decade of designing for other labels, Betsey decided to make a dramatic change in her life and in 1978, she formed a partnership with Chantal Bacon and started the Betsey Johnson label, as it is known today. Designing for herself allowed Betsey the creative freedom to execute her vision to its fullest potential.

The same year Betsey and Chantal launched their first retail store in the heart of Soho. In the early 80's, they were one of the first to open a store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, helping the street to gain its worldwide recognition as one of the best shopping areas of the 1980's. Today there are over sixty-five Betsey Johnson stores worldwide. International expansion came in 1998 with the opening of the wildly popular London store. In 1999 the Vancouver store opened its doors and Toronto opened in early September 2003. In September 2006, the first Betsey Johnson store opened in Japan. Betsey Johnson clothing is also available in better department stores as well as in specialty stores throughout the country, and in Europe and Asia.

The year 2003 marked some exciting licensing endeavors for the company, taking Betsey's signature prints and whimsy to new audiences with categories including handbags and lingerie. She continued this trend and has since added footwear, belts, eyewear, watches, costume jewelry, swimwear, leg wear, outerwear and a fragrance thus effectively emerging as not only a clothing designer but a top American Lifestyle brand.

In late 2002, Betsey was honored with an induction into the Fashion Walk of Fame, honoring her contribution to American fashion. A bronze and granite plaque containing an original sketch, signature and biography was embedded into Seventh Avenue sidewalk in early 2003. In March 2005, the Signature Awards and NAWBO-NYC committee honored Betsey with the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award. And following that, Betsey received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Accessories Council in November 2005. Betsey Johnson was also honored with the Designer of the Year Award at the annual Fashion Accessories Benefit Ball (FABB) in May 2007 and was recently honored with the National Arts Club Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement in Fashion in October 2009.

In August of 2007, Betsey Johnson and Co-Founder, Chantal Bacon (B.J. Vines) aligned with Castanea Partners, a Cambridge-based private equity firm forming Betsey Johnson LLC, as it is known today.

We think that Barbara Tfank is part of the New York fashion scene.

In order to learn about Barbara Tfank, I had to turn to her profile on Linkedin. Unfortunately, I was unable to find her business website. If you know her website address, please let me know. For now, below is the Barbara Tfank profile from her LinkedIn page.

Native New York designer, Barbara Tfank’s visions of design seem unparalleled to any other designer. She sets herself apart from others by regularly drawing her inspiration from ageless films and works of art.

A perfect paradigm of her work is her 2008 Spring collection, which reflected the look of elegant darling, Anouk Aimee, a 1960’s art house film star. Barbara Tfank’s use of opulent French and Italian brocades, paired with a light palate of icy pastels, rich in silk and polyester, created a Jackie Onassis type of design. Tfank concentrated on simple lines and wearable designs.

Barbara Tfank’s 2008 Fall collection was conceived under a different premise. Tfank’s spark was ignited when she came across Fernand Leger’s timeless classic "Three Women" which depicted three unclothed, voluptuous women, all with shading in dark browns to gray’s. The rounded curvature of the women’s bodies, along with the crisp, straight lines of all the details in the picture, was reflected in Tfank’s fashion line. Tfank also extracted the red, yellow and other vibrant colors from the painting to incorporate in her color scheme of clothing. Tfank’s elegant ethos shines through by providing these vivid colors that are framed by the dominating black back lit color, which in turn creates a beautiful silhouette. This line provides more wool coat styles, paired with thicker linen pants; taffeta and tulle also play a principal role.

Inspired by bohemian resort clothing, Mrs. Tfank’s most recent 2009 collection is based upon the idea of an early 60’s Liz Taylor, gives way to a wardrobe full of holiday excursion fashion. These brilliant floral gowns and luminous suite outfits, all cinched at the waist by a fitted belt with wide set v-necks, give off the most feminine touch possible—this may just be her best summer line yet. From sweetheart tops to the violet suite, these garments suit Tfank’s muse to a tee.

New York Fashion : Learn it, Live it, Love it. NY Fashion For All.
Introduction
According to the New York Fashion Incubator, "New York is one of the most influential cities in the United States for many reasons. In fact, NY is among the top most influential cities in the entire world. As with most business categories, New York is important to the fashion industry."

New York is a state in the Northeastern region of the United States. It is the nation's third most populous state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south, and by Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border with Rhode Island east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Ontario to the north and west, and Quebec to the north. The state of New York is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from the city of New York. New York City, with a population of over 8.1 million, is the most populous city in the United States. It is known for its status as a financial, cultural, transportation, and manufacturing center, and for its history as a gateway for immigration to the United States.  In addition, New York is known for its fashion and participation in the fashion industry.
