Where Mott Street and Bowery meet, an intersection seemingly locked in time.

Revisiting Bowling Green for a second Before & After photo. This area has gone through a lot of changes over the years.

Today New York gets a new Mayor. Bill De Blasio will have a ceremonial inauguration at City Hall at noon. A few blocks south sits Federal Hall, the site of George Washington's inauguration in 1789. Today's Before and After post looks at the view of that historic site, looking down Wall Street towards Trinity Church. Everyone's awake and reading the internet this morning, right? Right?

Though it's now a touristy shopping district, the South Street Seaport used to be a dilapidated neighborhood with almost no hope of being revitalized.

Big images for a big building today. Hope you all have huge displays, or don't mind scrolling.

Today we look at Orchard Street: On the one hand, it's refreshing to see all the buildings have avoided demolition. On the other hand, where's the street life?

This memorial seems to get very little notice from the thousands who walk by (or even through) it to get to the Statue of Liberty ferries.

NYC Grid is 5 years old! Today we look at the Essex Street Market 45 years apart. Despite changing owners multiple times, very little seems to have changed on the outside. I'm very pleased to see they haven't sold their air rights to some condo developer – YET.
