New Orleans Saints History

New Orleans Saints History  -

Highlights Video from 2006 showcasing Deuce McAllister.
Just keep in mind that Deuce was definitely on the back end of his career at this time. He had had at least 2 injuries that I recall and he was still able to play at this level.

What is the NFL record for most touchdown passes in regular season game?
It's 12.
On November 2, 1969, Saints Quarterback Billy Kilmer and Cardinals QB Charley Johnson each had 6 TD passes, the Saints edged the Cards with a Tom Dempsey field goal and Ernie Wheelright 1-yard score. Final score, Saints 51, Cardinals 42.

This highlight video was posted on WhoDat Zone (http://www.whodatzone.com) and is from that infamous Monday Night Game against Oakland where the Saints blew a 21-point lead against Kenny Stabler and the Raiders.
It's not the greatest quality but it shows just what kind of running back Chuck Muncie was capable of being.

Who remembers Buford Jordan??

I once received an email from a woman in New Orleans that told me that Buford would frequent a diner where her mother worked as a waitress and Buford got to be good friends with the elderly lady. Over time the woman lost her sight and was unable to get around. Buford would visit the disabled woman and read to her from her Bible because she no longer could.

1983 was the first year that the #neworleanssaints were ever a serious contender in the NFL. Playoff hopes stayed alive up until the last 6 seconds of the season.
Bum Phillips put together a Saints team that sported serious talent on both sides of the ball. With the likes of Kennny Stabler, George Rodgers, Hokie Gajan and Jeff Groth New Orleans had a productive offense while  the defense really began to make a name for themselves with players like Ricky Jackson, Bruce Clark, Dirk Winston, Derland Moore, Jim Kovach and Dave Waymer. And we had a kid named Morten Andersen kicking 50 yard field goals.
NFL Films presents A Little Bit More featuring Bum Phillips and the 1983 New Orleans Saints NFL that saw New Orleans last until the final play of the year.

The 1971 New Orleans Saints Team Roster
http://goo.gl/hlXIDE
One feature of #NewOrleansSaints History is year-by-year team rosters, that I have had on the site for quite some time now.
But it's recently come to my attention that the source I used years ago to make these rosters may not have been 100% accurate, so I've been going through and making corrections as needed.
One roster I corrected was the 1971 roster. Now, can you tell me the what's special about 1971? It was the rookie year of Quarterback Archie Manning, who was years, the face of the New Orleans Saints.
So here is the 1971 New Orleans Saints Roster. If you like, here is all the rosters for all the Saints seasons: http://www.nosaintshistory.com/new-orleans-saints-rosters/
