The Bozeman Ranger District will be closing Hyalite Road to motorized use beginning at the Hyalite Dam on Friday, March 21 at 12:01 a.m. Hyalite Road accesses the popular Hyalite Canyon south of Bozeman, Montana. Ice climbers and skiers can still park at the Blackmore Day Use area and ski or snow bike 2.5 miles to the ice. The closure is needed because of the significant amount of snowfall the area recently received, the piece of equipment Gallatin County would use to plow this portion of the road is unavailable, and the money budgeted raised for plowing has been spent.

Warmer weather is on the horizon and we're all getting antsy for sunny days at the crag. But before breaking out your climbing gear and heading outside, stop & inspect all your stuff... 70' off the deck is no time to question whether or not your fuzzy rope is really going to hold your fall.

Why do people climb mountains? Because it gets us high! Doug’s long-awaited book, The Alchemy of Action, offers a fresh – even shocking – explanation of why people climb mountains, by delving into the brain chemistry behind climber’s euphoria. The intriguing story behind why we are so much more than “adrenaline junkies” leads deep into the psyches of all adventure athletes as they push toward the ragged edge of human potential and return with shimmering new awareness from a heady brew of hormonal cocktail that includes the surprising ingredients of home-made organic psychedelic compounds.

Doug Robinson is a professional mountaineer known internationally for his climbing, guiding and ski mountaineering, as well as his poetic writings about the mountains and why we climb them. Closely identified with California’s High Sierra, Doug has been called “The Modern John Muir.” We are honored to have Doug back to give a presentation to our club.

We're retiring the old logo, it's served us well but the one constant in life is change and this is no different.

It's Feb 13, 10:40am in Bozeman, MONTANA. It's 48 degree outside.

We are so sorry. We had no idea that our Kiss Off Winter Sale actually had the power to cause such an abrupt end to winter. Honestly, we feel pretty bad about this.

The only consolation is that the sale ends on Sunday, so hopefully the snow will return when all these amazing deals are finally over.

What amazing deals?!? We're glad you asked:
-20% Off ALL 4FRNT and Atomic Skis
-15% Off ALL AT & Telemark Skis and Boots
-15% Off ALL Ice Tools
-15% Off ALL Beal & Edelweiss Ice Lines
-20% Off the La Sportiva Batura 2.0, Scarpa Phantom Guide, and Scarpa Mount Blanc (women's) Ice Boots
-Up to 50% Off Men's & Women's Sportswear and Outerwear

Again, we're sooo sorry about the weather. We'll make sure this doesn't happen next year.
