“My introduction to the desert landscape was through Dr. Marsh’s desert ecology class, which had us backpacking and studying the environment from the border with Mexico up to the Grand Canyon.” This adventure led Susan Clark '95 David and her husband Jim to Arizona's Desert Foothills Land Trust where they won two regional Emmy Awards and five Telly Awards. North Central’s psychology faculty Leila Azarbad was among the experts featured in an important series of stories about mental health by the Daily Herald. In the May 21 article titled, “Clients, therapists say culture plays key role in mental health treatment,” Azarbad said students’ views about mental illness seem to be shifting: “Young adults over time have become increasingly more open to this idea that, ‘Mental illness is real.
