Huge congratulations to Brenda Garcia of Mount Vernon High School, who won our 2017 Excellence in Education Scholarship of $1000. We annually award this scholarship to deserving high school seniors who plan to make a career in the medical field in some way. Brenda plans to study neuroscience with an eye toward being a surgeon. We think she will go far!

We had an awesome fashion shoot with the ladies from the local Rumours Hair Design studio!

The frames featured in this collection are all our own Cascadia brand, and our online brand of 92NW: https://cascadia-eye.myshopify.com/

Prices from $35 to $100 -- beautiful deals on beautiful frames! (And in this case, on beautiful ladies, too!)

Special thanks also goes to Alyssa Brandt, photographer.

Last month one of our technicians, Maria, made a presentation at Mount Vernon High School's Career Class, telling them all about what it's like to be an ophthalmic technician and what we do during eye exams. Read her report about it here:

Recently someone asked: "Why do you give out PURPLE mugs to your post-cataract surgery patients? Purple isn't your company color!"

The reason is special -- it turns out that people with thick cataracts lose the ability to see purple properly. It starts to look ugly and brown...so when patients have cataract surgery, they often exclaim over the ability to see purple again!

So what better color to use for a post-operative patient gift?
