The human web draws us into the actions of our neighbours - particularly in periods of addiction or the period of time involved in whittling down a person's will to resist IV drug use.

Fascinating article!

The Fix
by Dan Werb
A new way of thinking about the intractable problem of injection drug use

" Beyond the human misery it causes, IV drug use costs Canada’s health care system millions annually. Yet most people who inject drugs are much more likely to meet a police officer or a prison warden in the course of their addiction than a doctor or a nurse. Treating addiction as a chronic illness may be a safe piece of rhetoric across the political spectrum, but in practice we continue to treat IV drug users as criminals."

Businessweek doesn't understand Google+

Evidence:
Using information culled from the public timelines of 40,000 randomly selected members, data analysis firm RJMetrics found that the Google+ population, which currently numbers 170 million, is largely disengaged, with user activity rapidly decaying—at least when it comes to public posts.

Analysis:
This is a silly statistic because the point behind Google+ and its circles is that you can micro-target your posts to groups of people you have pre-screened. This will be my first public post (!) and yet I've been far more active on Google+ than their cursory scan picks up.

Identifying the centre of Vineland isn't all that straightforward. The first and most plausible candidate is the Vineland Public School on Victoria Ave. It is within walking distance of the main intersection(s) and it hosts one of the most significant cultural events in Vineland, the Arts Festival.

If Vineland, Ontario is anywhere near your current location, you're invited to come to a church service with me and hear a message of light in the darkness.

What does the forgiveness of sins look like?

"Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." (Isaiah 55:1)

When Jesus Christ began His public ministry of proclaiming the divine message for fallen sinners, He announced that the time was fulfilled and the kingdom was at hand. This basic summary of His message is followed with His call to the hearers of the Word to repent and believe.

We again hear that proclamation tomorrow morning from the Gospel of Mark (chapter 1, verses 14-15). What's this kingdom about? You and me as debtors being told "come, buy and eat" though you have nothing to contribute!

If the grace of God stirs you to respond in faith, come and worship Him in your local church!

In the afternoon you can continue to receive spiritual wine, milk, and solid food from God's Word. Come and hear the proclamation of our God to us! From the opening call to worship to the closing benediction we hear that Word and respond in praise, prayer, confession, and in the giving of gifts for the care of our neighbours. Hebrews 13:1-7 is our sermon text as we approach the end of the book of Hebrews!

"Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David." (Isaiah 55:3)

+Christopher Chelpka : John Calvin has  a great description of our struggle in his commentary on Hebrews that I think you'll appreciate:

"“Nothing flows away so easily as love; when every one thinks of himself more than he ought, he will allow to others less than he ought; and then many offences happen daily which cause separations.... we cannot be Christians without being brothers” (p 339)

I will exercise my right to assess only those features that matter to me. The absence of a model train along the walls was also a significant negative that somehow missed my initial review

We've had great service from the veterinary staff at Beattie Animal Hospital. We have appreciated the: - clean, well-lit, and spacious waiting area and examination rooms - courteous and friendly staff - ease of access (no problems making appointments and easy to find/park/etc.) - reasonable prices for treatments and examinations The other location in the Brantford area is equally well-managed and well-serviced.

The prices were quite good, the atmosphere was friendly, but the food was not as good as we expected it to be. The vermicelli noodles were dry and undercooked. The satay pork was very good though.

Great food at a reasonable price! This is a small mini-restaurant that does amazing Thai take-out food. The pad thai is excellent and the green curry is fantastic. I would recommend it if you're looking for good food. They also have an extensive selection of Asian foods in the grocery section of the store.
