Apart from being a little rabbit warren like it fits the bill for those wishing to make the mulah go a bit further. Most staff seemed friendly and helpful and location is easily walked to the main town areas. My only critique being is to enquire to backpackers when booking about orientation of rooms in relation to noise from the bar/pool areas that they may appreciate a slightly less boisterous environment, otherwise liked the business, the peoples and locality of Cairns in general

I originally booked 1 night at Nomads in Cairns... and Extended day by day for 5 days until my flight back home, to Canberra. The actual physical hostel was a great setup with a bar (with nightly specials on drinks and food - awesomely budget friendly dinners), nightly activities such as beer (water) pong and pool comps, free pool tables, constant tunes (w/big screen tv's), a swimming pool, volleyball pit, smoking area, communal kitchen and laundry, hourly free shuttle buses (until 3am) to the city (and airport costs $15) and simple but clean rooms and bathrooms. As soon as I arrived, the place had a great vibe and very friendly staff who often hung out with travellers and treated them as good friends would. They even went to extended lengths to help find and return my stolen longboard. The people who stayed there were mostly travellers from all over, Germans, french, english etc etc And were all an absolute hoot to hang out and party with, was very hard to say goodbye! Cairns, and the area around it have an amazing amount of things to see, do and explore and Nomads is a great hostel if you want a young and vibrant crowd to do it with!! Highly recommend. You wont want to leave! Thanks everyone for the amazing stay!

Wow !, I really didn't expect to be amongst very young and vibrant crowd when I booked online. No regrets though. Enjoy my stay with the complimentary breakfast and really cheap and delicious dinner. The room and bath were really clean. However I must bring a few issues up so that your place of stay will be better managed and received. 1) the room that I was in 1A had a terrible odour that when I stepped into it , I felt like throwing out. Therefore I went to buy some oranges and peeled them so that the citrus would overcome the foul odour which it did. 2) the person who took my call when I arrived at the airport did not know which was left and right. She told me to follow the blue and green lines when I stepped out of the airport. What she didn't do was to ask which terminal I was coming from and told me to turn to my left instead of my right. So when I stepped out of Terminal 1, I did not see green and blue lines but only the green line therefore following her instructions that I should turn to my left, I turned and waited and waited and waited but no one turned up. I called her again and asked her why the pickup was no where in sight, she said that I should follow the green and blue lines. In the process she did ask me from which terminal I was coming out from. I felt this was like an automated answering machine and her English wasn't so good that I asked to speak to someone who could give me proper directions. Finally I reached but she was no where in sight for me to speak to her. 3) Claire was at the reception to greet me, extremely pleasant and sure of what she knows. Hands me the bus schedule to town and briefed me on some of the rules. She is an asset to the management. 4) hopefully, Internet will be free in future... no complains though as I paid $4 for an excellent wifi speed for 24 hours. 5) checking out..hmm meeting the same person again !!! I wanted to book a shuttle to the airport and she said that they don't send to airport and that I had to book my return shuttle 6 hours in advance. So okay it is my mistake as she said that it was on the website !!!. But to add insult to injury, she just shrugs her shoulder in a couldn't careless matter. Asked her how long is it to the airport, she said that the it was a fifteen minutes drive !!!! ( I timed the travelling time the moment I stepped into the cab till the airport, and it was barely 6 minutes ) She did however book a taxi for me after I asked whether I could get a cab. Perhaps you could place an announcement about the return trip to the airport should be booked in advance so that travelers like me who "missed out" reading it on the website would be well prepared. Have your front desk staff take a trip to both the Terminals and identify where the blue and green lines start from. As I see it the green lines starts from Terminal 1 and only reaching the end of Terminal 1 entrance does one actually see both blue and green lines. Then they will be able to guide first time travelers like me to the correct place to wait. Pl in future do screen the your staff strictly on their general knowledge about Cairns as it will definitely deter travelers like me who depend on the front desk for clear and precise information. I have nothing against the person who dealt with me but if she could at least improve on her interpersonal skills would be of great asset to both the management and the tired but excited traveler.

Great airport pickups (but not dropoffs) and free bus to centre of Cairns (and back) till the early hrs of the morning. Good cheap meals and free coffee/tea & toast for breakfast. 7 bunk rooms crowded as expected but bathrooms reasonably clean. Good kitchen Cheap WiFi and good tour desk. Huge so always somewhere to chill out by yourself. Music in public areas could have been turned down after midnight. :( Verdict : probably the best of the Cairns backpackers

Let me start by saying that I don't like hostels. That being said we stayed here as part of a package holiday and I can honestly say that I was impressed. The premises were clean, the staff helpful and upbeat and the facilities were more than adequate. If you want a decent affordable place to stay I can't recommend this place more highly

Clean and well working hostel. Slept good and no hassle which was all we were really looking for. Can tell it's part of a chain, which is a good thing in this case. The staff are pretty much all other travellers and all were eager to help us with info or anything. The free wifi was however crap but you can pay 4AUD for a "premium" one which is a bit meh in this day and age.

Sweet vibes, little out of town but the free shuttle that runs hourly until 3am more than makes up for it. Cheap food, nice pool, clean rooms and great kitchen facilities.
