Upon arrival I was given a free upgrade from a 12 bed dorm to an 8 bed which was perfect after my 40 hour commute from England. The dorm was clean, tidy and there are lockers (bring your own padlock, though). The 7th floor has a huge kitchen with plenty of food storage, preparation and cooking space. The roof terrace has a sauna and jacuzzi and plenty of seating with nice views of the harbour. It's even a nice sun trap which you don't really get on street level in Auckland. Showering and wash facilities also clean and plenty. Thanks Nomads. R

Pros: Great location, free spa/sauna, ovens in the kitchen not just hobs, extra blankets & pillows free on request. Free earplugs (although, that isn't the most inviting thing to notice as you check in, it's not great to know a place needs to offer ear plugs to it's guests) The staff were all friendly & helpful. Cons: Single glazing, no heating facilities in the dorms meaning our room was absolutely freezing constantly (even with an extra duvet & 3 layers of clothes). The night club is really loud until the early hours of the morning, even ear plugs didn't seem to drown out the noise & the single glazing meant any noise on the street was heard clearly. Small kitchen & it's on the top floor. Overall, I think it is very overpriced for what you get, you are literally just paying for the location.

Great hostel. Good location and attached to a nice bar and restaurant. There were nightly events. Staff were helpful and informative. Kitchen was good and spacious. Only downsides were that there was no free wifi and the beds were uncomfortable and squeeky!

Great hostel. Of course it's a bit noisy but what do you expect in a hostel? It mostly is noisy so I didn't care about that. Good showers/toilets and nice and helpfull staff. My matrass could've been better. Checked others in my room and they defenitly were, guess I was just unlucky in that part. All in all, good hostel. Defenitly going to stay again (already booked ;) )

Nomads has a fantastic location, very close to the centre of town and the Vector Arena. It was clean and the staff were friendly. At times the showers on the top level stopped working but this problem was quickly looked at. One thing we would have appreciated is more common areas and kitchen space for groups, but overall we were happy with the facilities provided.

First of all...we walk in to check into our room...what do the staff do? They see us, then turn around and walk to the back of their office and chat/laugh/flirt and leave us standing there like idiots for a good 5 minutes watching them talk and laugh before even acknowledging our presence. Secondly...I wouldn't recommend staying here if you plan on having fun...from a simple funny conversation with friends to drinking alcohol. We stayed there on a Saturday night, we booked it so we could go out drinking. But found out there is no drinking allowed at all in the hostel (couldn't find that on the website - this would be EXTREMELY helpful to point this out, as I would have booked somewhere else), but because we had already paid for the room, we still had some drinks, but a lot earlier than we normally would and left the premises early around 9:30pm. We got told off for talking too loudly at 7pm!!! Understandable if it was say 10pm but 7pm?? This hostel is ideal for people who want to sleep and talk like librarians (I understand this due to jet lag, but seriously 7pm?) Staying in a hostel full of young travellers and even locals that is right in the middle of town should be expected to produce a fair amount of noise and excitement. Great location though and rooms were a little smelly, but fine. But I'd recommend staying at Ibis Styles...similar price, but you also get a small kitchen station and a mini balcony and you're allowed to drink and laugh with your friends...also it's right off Queen Street, so super central :)

Friendly and helpful staff made my stay at this budget accommodation pleasant. The rooms are tight but functional and the building is an old character building with plenty of character.I slept well in a 4-bed dorm and I heard no street noise, which is quite a treat for a bedroom in the heart of the city. If you are looking for low-cost accommodation with great atmosphere and right in the best part of Auckland Downtown, then I highly recommend this place.
