Do you know who this is?

I am asking everyone to share this photo to help return a lost #gopro #hero3 camera to him. We found the camera on a Sligo beach on Sunday 29th September 2013.

Spy plane possibly finds 6000 sheds converted into living accommodation in UK.

I cant figure out whether the mail is delighted to find rogue landlords or appalled that council is using "spy planes". Maybe both.

The story of a Boeing B-17G flying fortress that crash landed into mountain not to far from me. I have never got the wreck, but have been close, but fading light forced a retreat. it was at least another 1 hour walk to and back in a 5 hour walk. but so some day this summer I will get to it.

A 20m contour map of Iceland, reminds me of the 1:50000 scale model of the island in the city hall, that I had the pleasure if visiting.

The worlds first detailed land survey on a national scale was carried out 1656-1658, its purpose to identify valuable lands owned by Irish Catholics to be given to English merchants (who lent money to the government in return for lands) and soldiers (in lieu of pay).

Regardless of its purpose, it was a mammoth task to undertake then.

The maps, scattered throughout different libraries in different countries, have been scanned, digitised and made available as an public resource.
Portrait of William Petty. William Petty 1623-1687. Depiction of surveying in the 17th century. 17th Century Surveying. Ireland in the 1650s lay in ruins. Twelve years of calamitous warfare had destroyed the country's infrastructure and resulted in the death of over 20% of the Irish population.
