Boomers: Will you become you an "elder orphan"? Data shows that the baby boomers will have a higher percentage of “elder orphans”—seniors without family they can turn to for support—than any other previous generation. According to one study, 22%—almost a quarter—of American seniors are at risk of becoming, or are already, elder orphans. http://ow.ly/JPDH306qiHc
Visiting Angels has been paying close attention to the elder orphan crisis. Visiting Angels home care services are available to seniors across America, including elder orphans and those at risk of becoming elder orphans.

Using Home Care Services to Promote an Age-Positive Attitude: Believe it or not, one's outlook on aging has a measurable impact on life expectancy — and a big one. A landmark study from Yale and Miami University in 2002 showed that study participants who felt positive about aging lived 7.5 years longer on average than participants who had a negative view of aging. http://ow.ly/1ngA306qhne
At Visiting Angels, we know that home care services can change a client’s outlook on life. But what may surprise you is just how big an impact that outlook has on their health and overall well-being. That’s especially true for how seniors feel about aging.

Incredibly kind and professional! We have had an "Angel" taking care of my grandmother for over a year now. Although she is in excellent mental condition, my grandmother needs some extra help and can't be left alone for long periods of time. Visiting Angels provides an incredible peace of mind for all of us in the family. Of course we all still visit her frequently, but we simply would not be able to work, travel, or sleep soundly if this angel was not with her every day. While her quality of life is certainly improved, ours is as well.
