For an authentic #Tuscan experience we recommend visiting #Siena in winter. You can enjoy the city’s top museums and attractions without the tourist crowds, including Siena Cathedral & Piazza del Campo, or simply stroll along the less busy, beautify decorated cobbled streets.

Typical Tuscan food is more suitable for winter too- ribollita (delicious vegetable and bread soup), pici (local pasta) and bistecca alla fiorentina (Florentine steak) will keep you full and warm for hours. For travel details contact +Grand Hotel Continental:

Caravaggio, a restless soul & an extraordinary talent was one of the most influential painters of all times. Famous for misbehaving, drunken escapades & short temper, the #Baroque genius spend most of his short life in Rome and that that is where his talent flourished.

You can now discover his works with the +Residenza di Ripetta  #Rome dedicated tour; visit key galleries, churches and museums all showcasing his genius of imagination and artistry. Sites include: Basilica di Santa Maria del Popolo and Vatican Museums. For details contact the front desk: http://tinyurl.com/k4ghptn

Christmas markets represent the essence of the festive period. Slotted into city-centre squares & adorned with stunning decorations they have an atmosphere of a true winter wonderland.  Mix of craft stalls & food sellers allow you to purchase beautiful handmade gifts from decorations to food and tipples, with a treat and mulled wine in hand. This Christmas period discover the Mercato Tedesco di Natale in Florence, Siena - Mercato nel Campo, Piazza Navona Christmas Market in Rome with one of ours ‘Christmas shopping and Markets’ getaways

Good luck to all the runners participating in the +firenze marathon   this Sunday (30.11.14).  The 2nd largest running event in Italy offers some of the most scenic views, with outstanding architecture. Starting from the city centre, its course takes in all the sights including: Cathedral Square, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio. The race involves many narrow streets, but the amazing Italian scenery and landmarks are worth it.

One of the figures responsible for shaping today’s celebrity culture was the #Italian   #photographer Elio Sorci. Long before Ferderico Fellini  coined the term #paparazzi to describe those who take candid pictures of the famous outside of their work environment, Sorci was already one of them. Released in September by Roads, ‘Paparazzo: The Elio Sorci Collection’ complies his iconic shots of the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly. Here are few of his shots documenting the ‘La dolce vita' era stars
