Dev Deepawali Photo Tour to City Of God Banaras :)

PhotoJunction.in presents Dev Deepawali Tour to City Of God "Banaras" with Nimit Nigam sponsored by Sigma

#Varanasi
Situated on the West Bank of the Holy River Ganga, VARANASI also known as Banaras, Benares and Kashi, is an important Holy City for both Hindus and Buddhists. According to some it was founded by Lord Shiva 5000 years ago, though modern scholars believe it to be around 3000 years old.
In 1897, Mark Twain said “Benares is older than History, older than Tradition, older even than Legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together”.
Varanasi is “The oldest Living City in the world, the City which was already old when Buddha was Young”. Varanasi always seems a Magical Place for Visitors and especially for Photographers.
You will find around 100 Ghats. Each of the Ghat has Different Name, History and Importance. You will find Many Colorful Frames on Street and Ghats of Varanasi.
Some Hindus believe that death at Varanasi brings Salvation. Many of Varanasi Temples were plundered and destroyed by Muhammad Ghori in the 12th Century.
Gautama Buddha gave his First Sermon at Sarnath located (13km) near Varanasi.
Varanasi is the Spiritual Capital of India. Scholarly books have been written in the City, including “The Ramcharitramanas of Tulsidas”.

We are organizing a trip to this Holy city i.e Varanasi on Occasion of Dev Deepawali. We will help you to overcome your fear of shooting people in narrow streets or at the ghats. This is the ultimate photo tour where you get an opportunity to shoot the Ganga ghats, the world famous Ganga Aarti and the narrow streets of Varanasi. Shooting all these, will not only make you a better photographer but also a better person as this experience will bring urself closer to your soul.

About Dev Deepawali:
Dev Deepawali or Dev Deepawali in Varanasi is celebrated on Kartik Poornima, the full moon of the Hindu month of Kartik, fifteen days after Diwali. Dev Deepawali is not a standalone, in itself. It is celebrated on the last day of Ganga Mahotsav, which begins on Prabodhini Ekadashi (11th day in the Lunar month of Kartik) and ends in Dev Deepawali which falls on 14th November 2016. It is interesting to note that Dev Deepawali in Varanasi also coincides with Guru Nanak Jayanti and Jain Light Festival.

The traditional plan of events for Dev Deepawali in Varanasi is quite elaborate and is followed religiously every year. The ceremony starts with the offering of prayers (Ganesh Vandana) and flowers to Lord Ganesh. This is followed by the offering of lit earthen lamps or diyas, known as deepdaan, by 21 Brahmins and 41 young girls with the chanting of vedic mantras in the background. A lot of devotees take a dip in the river Ganges on this auspicious day, known as Kartik Snan. This ritual is believed to rid a person of his/her sins. Many households also organize Akhand Ramayan (chanting of the holy scripture, Ramayana) followed by Bhoj where food is offered to people.

Dev Deepawali is a spectacle worth beholding in Varanasi. Every ghat and temple in the Holy City is alight with earthen ghee diyas. Whether the stars have found their way down to the Earth or not, one can hardly say. It is believed that the Gods descend to Varanasi on this auspicious occasion to take a dip in the River Ganga. This is what makes this festival so popular. Tourists from all over the country flock to Varanasi during this auspicious festival. On the night of the main festival, thousands of people, locals and tourists alike, come to watch the spectacular and elaborate aarti at the river ghats. With thousands of diyas lit all over the place. the view is rather enchanting and magical, despite the large number of people.

If you thought Benares was the champion of Ganga Aarti, wait till you attend the Ganga Aarti on Dev Deepawali in Varanasi. The ghats are seen to be teeming with people from all over the country and the world, but the crowded Dashashwamedh Ghat is in no way devoid of excitement or enthusiasm. The Ganga Aarti you will see on the evening of Dev Deepawali is the most elaborate Ganga Aarti that is performed during the whole year.

Join Nimit Nigam in capturing this vibrant city and its supurising streets where you never know what you are going to encounter in next lane.

The Spiti Valley is a desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
It possesses a distinctive Buddhist culture similar to that found in the nearby Tibet Autonomous Region and the Ladakh region of India. The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Along the northern route from Manali, Himachal Pradesh or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley lies in the North East of the Indian hill state of Himachal Pradesh, and forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza, Himachal Pradesh which is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of about 12,500 feet (3,800 m) above mean sea level.
Lahaul and Spiti is surrounded by high mountain ranges. The Rohtang Pass, at 13,054 feet (3,979 m), separates Lahul and Spiti from the Kullu Valley. Lahul and Spiti are cut off from each other by the higher Kunzum Pass, at 15,059 feet (4,590 m) these two specialized photographers will be there to supervise you to acquire intense and beyond the usual frames of the Mother Nature. The tour is planned to give the participants enough time to explore the destination and learn the different techniques of photography. Short treks will also be organized. Each day will end with a discussion related to your clicked photographs.
