This looks very interesting. Might save PC gaming as a major part in gaming industry. At least the hardcore aspect of it. Browser games will live on I guess.

I just played Brink as it was free for the weekend on Steam. The premise is good and it could have been a good game like a lot of other games lately. There is however one thing that makes it completely unplayable on the PC. This is similar to how most games nowadays play on the computer and it is something you probably have noticed.

The problem lies in what the games are made for. Mostly consoles. This means that the game will be ported (often poorly) to the computer and as such, it will not play as well. The issue lies in the controllers that the consoles use. They are slow and difficult to aim with so the developers compensate with two features. Acceleration and aim assist. One of these features are removed from the PC version and it is always the wrong one if you are going to remove only one of them. The developers will remove the aim assist as the mouse is a more accurate control so we should be able to aim well enough without the aim assist.

The problem is though, that the developers do not remove acceleration. When I move my mouse I want it to stick. I don't want the speed to increase. Nor do I want the movement to stop sluggishly like my hand weighs the same as a truck. I want it to stop when I stop. I want the speed to match what I am doing physically. Not to accelerate as I move the cursor.

Why is it so difficult to remove this feature? It removes all playability of the game from the PC version and to be honest, I would rate every game with that feature a 1/10. The game is simply not playable. The story might be good and visuals great. Good composition and great voice acting. But the problem is. If I can't navigate or aim, how am I to enjoy these things? The game becomes a frustrating and annoying piece of junk that should not have been sold to PC gamers. This is part of the cancer of the console generation that is destroying gaming from the inside.

Why hasn't developers caught on to this yet? Is it because we are not vocal enough about the issues? Is it because they simply do not care? Why am I not hearing more complaints about this? Please. Share your opinions. I can not be the only one who feels this is wrong!

TL DR: Brink sucks because of acceleration.

Why can't game companies use functional DRM? Use Steam or just a regular CD key. I don't care as long as they don't use their own shitty systems. Like XBox Live and EA's Origin. They never work properly, are filled with frustration and holy hell, how many hoops do you have to jump to get your account working?!

There are those of us who dream about tomorrow, but the issue is that we're not doing enough to make those dreams come true. Let's do all that we can and hope that we as a nation can pass this hiatus in good judgment.

So I wrote a fairly long blog post about how Minecraft has evolved and where I believe it has stepped wrongly. It took a while to get my feelings into words, but having played around with some mods lately, many things became so obvious.

Anyhow. Read/share/comment/vote. I love all feedback. Even grammar nazi stuff :P

Thank you! I appreciate proper criticism. Reddit isn't always that good at giving it so it is difficult to get some good pointers back.
