I just heard +Rand Fishkin say that setting up Google Authorship is no longer worth the effort in a +ProBlogger webinar today. So what's this group's take on the status of Authorship as it stands now?

Would you ever kiss someone you just met BEFORE a first date to assess chemistry beforehand?

Sharing this because this is a topic that is near and dear to my heart.

An important message re: domestic violence. Know the 8!
An important message from Beauty Cares, a non-profit based in NYC that is dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic abuse against women and children. A representative sent me this infographic, and I happily agreed to post it on my blog. It's an important message that every woman (and man) should read.

Run a market survey to discover the "Missing Statistic" & you become a go-to source (E-A-T alert), says content marketer Andy Crestodina in this video hangout.

Really looking forward to this hangout. I, for one, thought the results of the research were really validating in terms of time spent on blog posts relative to other bloggers out there. I'm excited to learn how to leverage this powerful tool to further develop a book project I keep putting on the back burner since 2009. If you're a blogger or content marketer, you're going to want in on this hangout.

Can a marketing survey help establish your brand and increase customer traffic long-term? How?

Of the many types of content available to marketers, the market survey falls into the lesser-used end of the spectrum. #Surveys take a lot of planning; they require lots of people's participation; they need technology to make them work; and results require some scientific analysis. And those steps are just the beginning, to give you something to talk about! With so much work involved, how can running a marketing survey be worth it?

Our guest, +Andy Crestodina, has a theory he calls "The Missing Statistic," which makes surveys like marketing gold. In this Hangout On Air, we'll find out about his experience earlier this month, when +Orbit Media Studios released a survey of 1000+ bloggers (http://www.orbitmedia.com/blog/blogger-analysis/). The results have been widely discussed as "great research, great content" (per +Copyblogger), with key findings pinning down, maybe for the first time, many characteristics of how bloggers do their work. But nowhere have they discussed the why and how of the survey itself.

Join us for this information-packed half-hour event hosted by +Paula Allen, our lead technical writer.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Bruce Clay, Inc.. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

A lot of people are making a big deal about this. While seeing my little face pop up in search results for the sake of my own vanity is almost as cool as having my own caricature in my college paper, I think that we'll all get over it pretty fast.

Remember life before Google+? We survived then, and we'll most certainly survive moving forward. It's not the end of the world.

Google is giving authorship a huge visual downgrade in its search results. Gone are pictures of authors. Gone are counts of the author in terms of Google+ circles they are in. Basically, it's now reduced to a byline.
Google’s John Mueller announced they are making a major change in the search results around authorship. Specifically, Google is dropping the profile photo and circle count from the search listings where authorship is assigned to a web page. Google said that the “click-through behavior on this new less-cluttered design is similar to the previous one.” […]

Agreed! My photo is pretty much the last thing I'm concerned about. Sharing the message is my goal.

It was really cool keeping up with the liveblogging of #smxadvanced  via +Jayme Westervelt for +Bruce Clay, Inc.. It was the next best thing to not actually being there myself. I would have LOVED to have gone and done a little liveblogging myself. I love conferences! Wish I could go to more of them. I always come back home brimming with ideas. Don't you?!
