Mr. Jingles is celebrating the Lunar New Year :)

Thankfully Google didn't dress him as a sheep, goat, or ram (since there's still no set opinion on how to translate this year to English).

Just noticed there's a new(?) online indicator (green bar) in Hangouts desktop version.

It used to be at the bottom of the grey title bar—poor contrast—and absent for contacts using mobile. Several presence updates later, it's finally becoming useful again.

YouTube will let you download videos, but they will be smaller than when you uploaded them. To get your original resolution copies back, follow this guide.
Want to move your YouTube videos to another service but don't have backups? Skip downloading the low-resolution ones from your account and use this method instead.

What a liar, 4.4.2 is not the newest version!

Something to do if you get disconnected, or just don't have stable internet (like public WiFi).
Experiencing spotty Internet and looking for a way to pass the time? Google Chrome has a built-in endless runner at the ready.

Finding out that the #Note4 update to #Lollipop is still at the manufacturer stage is kind of silly, especially since the #S5 has it already.

Hey +Nicole Cozma
Waiting for your update can be a real pain in the neck, especially when you see everyone else around seeming to get updates while you're left holding a phone that isn't running the latest and greatest software.  It's very rare to see a manufacturer announce a date for an update ahead of time, since a very long part of the process is testing the software and correcting it and testing it and correcting it and testing...well you can see what I mean.  If there was some kind of official announcement that turns into a deadline for the developers, they might be pressured to rush out a flawed product - which is something that you definitely don't want and I definitely don't want.

In honor of Valentine's Day, Google is treating owners of its most popular streaming device to $6 in movie rental credits for Google Play.

Hangouts will not save the alerts I set for GVoice SMS and voicemail. Keeps diverting to default Hangouts sound. Working for anyone else?

+Douglas Saylor While it's unlikely I'll make the switch to iOS, I understand how important the notifications are. I spend the majority of my time on my phone using Hangouts/GVoice, I hope a fix happens for this :)

You don't need the Android phone in your hand to find the IMEI.
Losing your phone is awful, but if you're working with your carrier and law enforcement to recover it, they may need your IMEI number.

Turn your face toward the sun and all the shadows will fall behind you.
When I'm not writing things, I spend my time finding new apps/tricks for my Androids, playing Diablo III or World of Warcraft, cooking, taking pictures, and reading.  I have two cats, love technology, Art Deco, and the absence of snow in Florida (though I do like the idea of visiting snow up North). I share most of my photos and thoughts on Google+, but I also maintain Twitter and Facebook accounts.

I like to meet new people, so introduce yourself if you're taking the time to read this.
