Some great photos of my Duelling Red Deer Stags in metalworking, taken by Chris Deane, who has been doing the metalwork on this cast (poor guy!)
One of my most complex compositions; a real challenge for any foundry. Only a foundry as superb as Pangolin Editions, with people as skilled as Chris, could hope to tackle something like this!

Here is a photo of the head of the life-size Emperor Penguin, cast into wax and ready for re-moulding (called investing) and casting into bronze. You can also see the red and blue wax runners and risers (feeds to channel bronze in and let exhaust gases out during casting) attached to the green wax of the penguin. The body is already invested. The whole penguin will be cast into bronze this week!

And here's a quick video of the Dragon armature + wing membranes.

Photos of the Dragon armature with wing membrane support added. I originally intended to use aluminium mesh, but then I had a brainwave and decided to try using paper kitchen towel, moistened and formed over the wire supports, then carefully soaked in very thin cyanoacrylate to set it. Something I had not tried before, so I was literally 'winging it' (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) Anyway, it worked brilliantly! So now I'm ready to start adding Plastiline to the Dragon (and possibly some Chavant on the wing membranes).

As promised, here are a few still images of the Dragon Armature. I will be posting some photos (and hopefully another video) once I have added the support for the wing membranes. Then, at last I will be ready to start adding clay!

Many people have asked me to post some videos, so here is a short 360 degree video view of the finished Dragon Armature, prior to adding the wing membranes. I will post a few still photos in a subsequent post.

Slow progress on the Dragon (I am making the armature for it as I write) so in the meantime, here are some photos of the latest cast of my little bronze Walrus.

P,p,p,p,pink Penguin! The mould of the Emperor Penguin progresses in the very skilled hands of Simon, at Pangolin.
Take a look at the last photo - do you think there is a new arch enemy in the making for Dr Who? The Dalek-Penguin!!! Ah ha ha ha! (Evil grin, rubs hands in delight!)
