Part one of my #NYCC  interview with Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo and their "Endgame" arc on Batman is up now on Bam Smack Pow:
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo don’t do small stories. At least they haven’t done any during their lengthy run on Batman, which has seen one grand saga after another. Snyder has already promised that the current arc, the ominously titled “Endgame,” won’t literally be bigger than the lengthy “Zero Year” arc the preceded it, but […]

If you're looking for a gateway into comics for people jazzed about the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, it's Legendary Star-Lord, and not the team book, that is most likely to feel comfortable for new fans.
Sam Humphries is obviously a big Star Wars fan. Of course if you’re going to do riffs or homages on famous sci-fi properties, you could do a lot worse than paying respect to the classics. Legendary Star-Lord #2 doesn’t focus on these nods, but from the revelation that Star-Lord has a sister to the specific […]

It's dangerous to be the son or daughter of a Marvel super hero ...
Next1 of 6Prev postUse your ← → (arrows) to browse (Warning: The final page of this article contains spoilers for a Marvel comic that was released this week. Even telling you which one it is could be a separate spoiler! Discretion is advised.) There’s a great scene on the final page of Avengers World #9 […]

More from my interview with Dan Abnett, this time concerning how the Guardians of the Galaxy you'll see on screen are true in the most important ways to the versions from the comics.
Dan Abnett didn’t invent the Guardians of the Galaxy, but he and Andy Lanning did write Annihilation: Conquest and the 2008 relaunch of the Guardians’ ongoing series that set the lineup used in the upcoming movie. The British writer was rewarded for his contributions with both set access and acknowledgement by director James Gunn. Since […]

Now we know why Marvel made its announcement on The View ...
When Marvel says Thor is embarking on an all-new era this October, it really means it. First revealed on The View this morning, a female will take up the mantle of the Thunder God in a new ongoing series simply titled Thor, by writer Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman. The identity of the character […]

I enjoyed the Gotham series premiere, but there were a couple of things I didn't like. (Mild spoilers inside!)
The consensus around the interwebs is that Gotham got off to a good start with its series premiere last night. Maybe not an “OMG! Best TV series ever!” beginning, but a promising, “I can see a show about Gotham City without Batman and want to see where they go with it” start, for sure. I […]

Hey, anyone want to give me a few million so I can bid on this?
Actually, there’s no guarantee that it will end up as the most expensive comic book ever, but considering that this copy of Action Comics #1 has already been bid up past $1.6 million and still has over a week to go before it closes, there’s a really good chance it gets there. I know what […]

If it wasn't for Fox's iron grip on the X-Men and Fantastic Four movie rights, the chances of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie? Pretty slim.
Okay, maybe not never. As a big chunk of the general public knows now, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and the gang are good characters, and Marvel may well have figured out that they were ripe for movie stardom at some point. But if you’ve been following the stories that Bleeding Cool has been running about […]

Steve Rogers is the man, but I'm totally on board to see what Marvel does with Sam Wilson as Captain America.
It’s one thing to accept that you are taking over for a legend, but sometimes it’s an even harder step to take mentally than it is physically. That’s what Sam Wilson will find out this October in All-New Captain America: Fear Him, a new Marvel Infinite Comic. The digital series will run six issues as […]

It looks like someone is going to take Nick Fury's place as the "man on the wall" at the end of Original Sin. I run down the field of candidates on Bam Smack Pow.
Next1 of 2Prev postUse your ← → (arrows) to browse If you’ve been reading this summer’s Marvel event, Original Sin, or even just keeping up with the reviews we’ve been running here at Bam Smack Pow, you already know that one of the major foundations of the plot is that Nick Fury has been holding […]

While we wait to see who the new Captain America will be, here's a quick primer on all the men to officially hold the position up til now.
Next1 of 7Prev postUse your ← → (arrows) to browse Steve Rogers is one of a kind. So is Captain America, at least as a symbol. But if we’ve learned anything over years of reading Marvel comics, it’s that the man and the costume aren’t necessarily synonymous. During times when Rogers has given up the […]
