According to Dave's tweet, cynefin's "claim is sense-making." Surely that claim is falsifiable. Have there been any rigorous studies of 'sense-making' generally? Have there been any rigorous studies of cynefin's superiority in sense-making over other models? If not, then perhaps the label pseudoscience or pseudo something applies.

I read a post today by Dave Snowden on the followers of Elliott Jacques and the Requisite Organisation. The post talked about pseudoscience, acolyte syndrome and cultism and the language seemed pretty strong to me. One of ...

I agree "making" implies at least some sort of cause/effect or pattern finding (hopefully with probability above chance). Also how does Snowden operationalize sense-making with regard to validity?

What is the smallest natural number that can be expressed as the sum of 10 consecutive natural numbers as well as the sum of nine consecutive natural numbers?

Big Hint: The number(s) at the beginning of one sequence are related to the number(s) at the end of the other sequence by a simple arithmetic relationship.

After 17 years of being at IT analyst, I'm on to my fourth career as a design thinker at IBM!

I'm joining IBM Design[1], a team led by GM Phil Gilbert[2]. I'll be reporting into one of Phil's direct reports, Charlie Hill[3]. My title is Portfolio Design Lead. The team is working across IBM Software (and hopefully eventually all of IBM) to apply "design thinking" to better unify and simplify IBM's product portfolios. Here's a good description of what the IBM Design team is up to[4]. And if you’re REALLY interested, here’s a presentation (pdf)[5] that gives you a flavor of our approach.

My last day with Gartner will be Friday, October 11th, and my first day with IBM will be the following Monday. So I hope to see as many folks from the IT world as possible at my swan song next week, Gartner Symposium--so I can say goodbye or hello!

Virtual give away hint: The starting number of one of the sequences is stated in the question.

Small hint: You can do the same for certain paired sequences of consecutive of natural numbers (CNNs) for all N/N+1, eg sum of 2 CNN = sum of 3 CNN, sum of 6 CNN = sum of 7 CNN.

Siebel Query Info

Romeo and Julian... About the Siebel Query Language. First of all, it abbreviates to SQL which is kind of funny, of course it has nothing to do ...
