I wish Big History had been an option when I was in high school.

"The Education Issue: So Bill Gates Has This Idea for a History Class ..." http://feedly.com/e/CtOTjref
Should one of the world’s richest men get to dictate the future of how we learn about our past?

Analytics firm Flurry has published data on mobile usage by US consumers during Q1 2014. While users are spending more time on their devices, how they use that time has changed as well. Only 22 minutes per day are spent in the browser, with the balance of time focused on applications. This has implications on how web based services are delivered to users on every mobile platforms.

To follow up on https://plus.google.com/103364600191547752094/posts/EdXTKFg3j77 - maybe not so huge but I am excited to see where it goes.
Making good on a pledge from last year, the president announced the establishment of an institute in North Carolina that he said would reinvigorate the nation’s manufacturing economy.

This does a great job explaining simply something I was trying to explain to folks a few years back at the height of the Steve Jobs is God craze, i.e., in my opinion Apple capitalized on knowingly spoon feeding their customers a temporary (albeit perfect and beautiful) solution to a difficult challenge.  My hypothesis: "[Native] apps are a fad..." - met with blank stares.  "Are you an idiot?  Clearly you have never seen/used/fallen in love with an iPhone."

I still think Apple makes beautiful products and sells the heck out of user experience potential.

I am more of a let's-make-the-world-open-and-connected kinda guy, although ironically I am not on FB so no one is reading this right now.

So, could some of y'all break some things and get on with this WoT or IoT or anything else you wanna call it Thing and for the love of god make it happen because I am getting tired of hearing how great it is going to be.

I need to curate my circles better.  Glad most of what I follow came from importing a circle someone else had curated/shared.  I always find lots of great content in the area of interest (tech) I have chosen to focus on here.
Back in the 1800’s, settlers began streaming West in hopes of finding land and prospects for a better life. They often passed through my own St. Louis before embarking in various directions. In 1844, one of these settlers, a 34-year old man named James Marshall from New Jersey, had started to farm some land in Missouri along the river, but contracted Malaria. On the advice of his doctor, he packed up and headed further West, all the way to Oregon...

Curious how this relates to Google's decision years ago to launch Apps Script nearly entirely based on storing data in Sheets.  Of course, ScribtDb can be more useful in many ways.  I am undecided on this post's conjecture...not that I care one way or another...just excited to see the API Economy blow up in years to come (if it hasn't already).
